Nunca he sido de esos fanaticos aferrados de Olga Tañon, pero sin lugar a dudas desde "Sola" hasta "Soy como tu" este es el mejor cd que ha lanzado Olga. El escogido de temas perfecto, las fotos perfectas, los arreglos divinos. El disco lo lanzó en 1993 y yo lo escucho a cada rato como si fuera nuevo.

As merengue goes, this is top shelf. Tracks 1,5 and 7 are the strongest.....

The musicians perform to perfection, particularly the brass punctuation.Technically excellent merengue, with some slight slips on the conga, but almost unnoticeable.

I think many listeners will find that returning (or hearing for the first time) this early Olga album will be a real pleasure, especially if you have been listening to her more ho-hum recent albums.

While not as mature as her greatest albums (Siente el Amor and Llevame Contigo), all the outstanding hallmarks of Olga's singing are here: her versatility, her ability to inahbit a song, and a flexible voice that changes is timbre and style.

Girlish in the opening Contigo o Sin TI, she is a litte more viper like in Muchacho Malo, and absolutley superb in Vendras Lllordano.

Compare that to her recent album Soy Como Tu, which is just so bland by comparison. Before that it was Una Nueva Mujer - the kind of album that makes a hot first impression - but in the long run becomes rather forgettable. Or the dull dull Sobrevivir. Olga hasn't really had a strong album since Yo Por Ti. (2001).

Merengue of this style is no longer in fashion at all, yet I find it infinitely more interesting than today's more "sophisticated" sounds. If 90s merengue sounds "dated", you just need to get over it! Arrangers Tejada, Querol and Valdez take the most unpromising melodies and along, with Olga's amazing singing, create something memorable.

THe highlight of the album is Vendras Llorando which is also a great video on her DVD.

A couple of the songs are weak, but overall Mujer de Fuego, Olga's second album, is one of her most enjoyable.
