5.0 out of 5 stars Feel Good Book, May 9, 2006
Every page is full of brightly colored drawings. If your child is not yet a reader, they will enjoy following along by looking at the great pictures.
The pages have about a paragraph of type on them. Even though my nine year old son reads chapter books, he really enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't like a baby book, but at the same time a younger child would also enjoy it. The inside flap read "an intermediate picture book for children in grades 1-4" but if you have a younger child, I wouldn't wait to buy it.
The story is about: friends that cheer each other on, doing new things and trying hard to do the best possible job, and working together as a team and family. As I was reading it I got a really good feeling and I'm glad my son read the book as well. It was full of many good life lessons.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was the best book I ever read., May 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
I liked when Mulch swerved around the sprinkler at home and swerved around Rider's part at the ball park because he was on two wheels.

I liked the baseball park and when Mulch slept with the baseball and baseball cap on at home. The pictures are like cartoons, I liked them a lot. I felt happy as I was reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good story, terrific illustrations, May 12, 2006
My three-year-old daughter was really taken with the art in this book--she flips through it saying the colors out loud and pointing out small details to me--and she's put the book in heavy rotation pre-bedtime, which is high praise indeed!

I was impressed with the story. Without being at all preachy or heavy-handed, the author gets two important messages across: to try your best even if you think you won't be able to achieve whatever it is you are trying to do, and to support your friends and family members when THEY are struggling to achieve their goals.

I definitely recommend this book both as an enjoyable read for your young children and for the lessons that are subtly included.
