The costume arrived at my door within 36 hours of ordering it. It came, of course, in a box that was way to large for it. The costume was flat packed inside of a cellophane bag. The bonnet was attached to the costume as were the retail tags. The material is a sateen polyester.
The body of the This also allows for the huge size range. The seam between each stripe has been embroidered over. The arm holes may be a little tight for those tikes with roly-poly arms but can easily be widened as the holes are right at the side seam. (On a personal note: My 35 pound 4 year old wanted to wear this as soon as he saw it the only issue he had, size-wise, was with the arm holes.)
The wings are quilted, embellished with stitching, and securely attached to the body of the costume. The back side of the wings are solid orange but have very nice stitching details. The underside of the wing is yellow and orange and boasts the that same detailed embroidery.
The headpiece really is a bonnet. It has a keyhole opening in the back, just like any quality baby bonnet would have, which is totally adorable. The antennae are wired but floppy. The bonnet is generous in size and could easily hid a winter cap underneath, if need be.
The tag reads: 100% Polyester excluding embellishments. Wash Cold Delicate Cycle Low Iron.
I would not iron this material. It does need a good steaming right out of the package. I imagine this will last through pretend play phase if properly altered... again referring to the arm holes my 4yo couldn't fit into with a sweatshirt on (the costume is listed up to 25lbs and is not actually for him but he still loves it!)
