Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Le Creuset's cast-iron 2-in-1 pan (known as a marmitout) is a versatile piece of cookware suitable for any kitchen. The base, which serves as a saucepan, and the lid, which doubles as a nonstick omelet pan, are beautifully finished in double-coated porcelain enamel and can be used on the stove, under the broiler, and in the oven. The saucepan holds 3 quarts and measures 10-1/4 inches across, and the lid/omelet pan measures approximately 9-3/4 inches across. Both pans feature a metal handle and the saucepan's small helper handle makes lifting it from the oven or stovetop an easier task. Heatproof gloves or a dry cloth are required to lift these pans because the metal handles get hot. Wooden, plastic, and nylon tools should be used, and an instruction manual with recipes is included. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the 2-in-1-pan is made in France using a one-of-a-kind mold that ensures each piece's uniqueness and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Rhonda Langdon

Product Description

Le Creuset combines the functionality of a true saucepan with the added bonus of a cover that also serves as a small nonstick surface skillet. The cover can be used as an omelet/saute pan by simply flipping it over. This multi function pan is truly two pans in one...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great omelet pan topping off a monster saucepan, February 2, 2003

This review is from: Multi Function Pan w/ 9.5" Nonstick Omelette (Kitchen)
I got my first Le Creuset cookware in 1978. ... It turned out to be one of my better investments, as I still use all the pieces today. I now have 3 French ovens, 5 covered saucepans, 3 skillets, 1 oval au gratin, & 1 cheese fondue set, all in flame. These cast iron utensils are virtually indestructible, except for a few minor dings in the outer enamel. They cook very evenly, given the cast iron, making me a possibly better than average cook (they're one of my unfair advantages). My only problems with the cookware are the heavy weight ...

My newest Le Creuset acquisition is the 3-qt multi 2-in-1 pan with 9&1/2" nonstick omelette cover. I never had a good omelet pan before, & that's what initially caught my eye. I was about to buy just that, but then I noticed that you could also get it as a top to the 3-qt 2-in-1, achieving a very large covered saucepan in the process, so I went for it. I can't say enough good things about the omelet pan. I now make professional 2- & 3-egg omelets stuffed with goodies. The nonstick coating really works & is quite tough (as I would expect with Le Creuset). Combine it with the bottom of the pan, & you have a saucepan that's as big or bigger than a couple of my French ovens, & you can use it on the stovetop or in the oven. I would definitely advise getting the combination for the bigger bang for the buck.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of non-stick coating scratching off the saucepan lip, July 18, 2005

Not only is this a good buy. It is also very pratical for those who have small kitchens and are short of space. My only complaint is that the non-stick coating on the lip of the saucepan gets scratched off over time by the edge of the omlette pan as is rests there during everyday use. The edge of these pans are not covered by enamel, possibly to prevent chipping or to let the cast iron show thru. It is this edge that gradually scratches off the finish of the the saucepan when they are used together

As the scratches are only on the lip of the saucepan and not where anything cooking would touch it, I would still recommend this pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the best combi, October 24, 2005
This review is from: Multi Function Pan w/ 9.5" Nonstick Omelette (Kitchen)
I bought this since I got such a great deal. My hubby was a little mad on my impulse buy but now he is converted. He loves it to death. Its the only pan that he uses. He loves to cook Thai and Indian on this, the slow cooking on this is the best. We rarely use the omelet cover but it has been used and the nonstick is great. Nothing ever sticks on it. If you can, BUY IT!! I have another Creuset, a bigger one and this is the one I and now him always reach for.
