4.0 out of 5 stars Neat Little Steamer
I originally got this to steam my headboard so bedbugs would be driven out, but since my apartment was heat treated, I haven't needed it for that. Still it's a neat inexpensive little gadget, and I find it works quite well for steam cleaning the arms of chairs, the base of my cat's scratching post, which had stains from her coughing up hairballs. It also drove some dirt...

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective and dangerous
I have used handheld steam blasters beffore, and know how they should operate. One thing they should not do is leak hot water and steam from the reservoir through the electrical wire! Fortunately, I discovered this quickly and no injury or damage resulted, but this is a dangerous level of sloppiness on the part of the manufacturer.

Still it's a neat inexpensive little gadget, and I find it works quite well for steam cleaning the arms of chairs, the base of my cat's scratching post, which had stains from her coughing up hairballs. It also drove some dirt from around the base of my kitchen faucets. It's small, so only steams for about 15 minutes, but it works very well. Oh, yes, I also steamed the wrinkles out of some winter clothes I just unpacked. Haven't tried the window cleaning attachment yet, but will soon. My only caveat is that the top requires quite a lot of strength to remove. It's like the pill bottles where you have to push down and turn at the same time, and you have to push HARD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Scalding Hazard, October 4, 2010

This little steamer worked great, once. The second time I tried to use the steamer it leaked steam back through the handle and out the thumb trigger opening. It instantly scalded my hand, so after soaking my hand in ice water for a while I tossed it out. This little device is dangerous and should be avoided.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!!!, June 27, 2011

I ordered this so that I could steam clean several mattresses (a little bed bug situation). Granted it is small (but I guess that's what makes it portable) and I knew that it would take several re-fillings for the task I was undertaking. But aside from having to refill, it worked like a charm, for 10 straight hours!! 3 mattresses and box springs were successfully steamed, as well as the carpets around the beds, and a few other miscellaneous things. Only a couple of downsides, as mentioned in other reviews, the cap is very difficult to get on and off and if you're using it for an extended amount of time, your thumb may get a bit sore from having to hold the button. I did not have any issues with steam coming out of places it shouldn't be, like some other reviewers have stated. The cap goes on good and tight (again it is a little difficult, but once it's on, it's on). Definitely a great buy (especially for the price)!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Overall, I'm not impressed., May 24, 2011
This review is from: Multi-Purpose Sanitizing Portable Steamer with Attachments (BLUE) (Automotive)
I purchased this product, hoping to accomplish some eco-friendly, household cleaning (wheel rims, bug splatter, grease an grime on the BBQ, soot on the brick fireplace, soap scum in the shower).

The first use was on soap scum; it actually worked good (using the scrub brush attachment). The steam was hot and the pressure was strong. It didn't do too bad on the bathroom door hinges either. However, it did not remove water spots on the shower doors and water just poured out from around the squeegee attachment (what a mess!). Moved on to the BBQ; again, it did a pretty good job on removing the grease build-up, but it took me about one hour (and several tank refills)to clean a relatively small area. After the first use, however, it was down hill from there.

The second time my daughter tried it. I don't know what she used it on, but she commented that there was no steam pressure or heat.

The third time, I tried it on the brick fireplace. The steam strength had decreased considerably and was only warm, at best (I made sure to only fill it with 175 ml of water and allow the unit to heat for five minutes, per the instructions). It cleaned the soot on the FIRST brick, using the scrub brush attachment, but after that the steam pressure was only mediocre and warm. I removed the scrub brush and tried using the pin-point nozzle. It cleaned the brick, as long I moved the nozzle in a small radius. I went through tank after tank, but only cleaned a couple of bricks.

In my opinion, if you intend to only use it for "light" household cleaning, this steamer is alright. Anything other than that, you'd probably be wasting your money. I was not impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bed Bugs Beware!, April 14, 2011

This item is small... just as it says it is on the listing. This item works tremendously well, provided the user READS the instructions, they have been included for a reason. We had need of a small, inexpensive steamer as we have acquired bed bugs in our home. I am disabled, and have little to no income, so it was with a bit of worry that I ordered this steamer. We hand make jewelry, and other items and it was important that we ensure the removal of the bed bugs. There were a couple of reviews of this stating it was dangerous, and should be banned, but we thought perhaps operator error may be involved, so we would give it a go.

The unit is fabulous... we only needed understand the limitations of the steamer, and work within the design perameters, to find we had made a wise decision by purchasing this item. The attachments connect, and disconnect easily, with gaskets to keep the steam within the connection points. We began using it immediately. Bed bugs have been dying in mass, instantly, the moment the steam hits them. The steam is very hot, and caution should be used, but it's not "that hot." Anyone needing a small steamer, or needing an inexpensive steamer, this steamer can work for you! It has worked tremendously well already, and we are continuing to use it daily! Thank you amazon for providing this awesome product!

Jerry

Good little steamer, well made and a good price. Only negative is the steam "blast" lasts 10 or 15 seconds and takes a minute or so to build up again. I would recommend this product anyway.

2.0 out of 5 stars More of a Cloth Steamer, August 19, 2011

This steamer & it's attachments are appealing, but the steam does Not get hot. I was going to use it to disinfect my children's toys, so as soon as it got here I set it up. After the allotted time I started steaming a stuffed animal and the toy was not hot, when I went to vacuum it. I steamed again and touched as soon as I moved steamer away and it was still cold. I released all steam and reheated 3 times
thinking it might have to be worked in. On the third heating I actually put my hand in the steam to be shocked that it did not burn me. This is when I realized that this steamer would work better for getting wrinkles out of clothes, and not for disinfecting toys.

1.0 out of 5 stars was excited at the prospect, but left me with a burn instead, August 1, 2011
This review is from: Multi-Purpose Sanitizing Portable Steamer with Attachments (BLUE) (Automotive)
I want to know how the steam coming out of the thing isnt hot enough to thoroughly clean, but i didnt let the unit cool down enough before i took the lid off, and burned myself. User error, but bottom-line is that it doesnt work. it spits and chugs like it's doing something, but if a spot is really dirty, you can tell that it isnt doing anything. Sad.
