Spectrum Puzzles - a fun visual puzzler, with one flaw
on September 27, 2013
Spectrum Puzzles in an interesting app that challenges you visually. It's just like a puzzle... you must put the pieces in the proper order and rotate them into the proper direction in order to solve the image. You can select various degrees of difficulty -- a "Small" puzzle only has 12 pieces, that's very easy. Then you have "Average" (20 pcs), "Large" (30 pcs), and "Huge" (48 pcs) which I must say is quite difficult and takes a long time to solve.
There are about 50 images that come with the app, although you can purchase additional picture packages (or use your own pictures). My biggest gripe is that the images are "locked" and only one image is unlocked at a time, so you have to progress in order. For example, if I think image #11 "Pinwheel" is cool and want to try that one, I'd have to first complete images #1-10. I'm not sure what happens if you get stuck on an image, there should be a way to skip levels (although I haven't found it).
Overall, this is a fun game that's worth a try. But the necessity of solving the puzzles in order diminishes the fun, it would be much better if all (or at least most) of the puzzles were unlocked from he beginning so that the user could select the images he/she wants to play.
