3.0 out of 5 stars Bark Collar
I bought this spray collar about a month ago for my 3 year beagle boy and so far it's working pretty well. We havent' had the cops at our door with dog barking complaints so that's good. He'll bark once or twice and then just whine for a little bit. He does smell like pledge when I get home, kind of funny. Overall it's doing the job of keeping his barking to a minimum so...

I have a Jack Russell puppy and an older Beagle who LOVE to get into bark-fests with each other several times a day, and it was driving me nuts. Nothing I did seemed to make a difference...they would quiet down when I went in and corrected them, but then they would start right back in again, sometimes the second I left the room!

Someone suggested a spray-bottle, and it helped break them up, but still required my personal involvement each episode. When I purchased these collars, the Beagle barked one time at a UPS driver and now refuses to engage with the puppy. The puppy somehow seems to KNOW what the deal is, and has not barked even one time with the collar on. It's like magic! I'm on day two of blissful silence and my only regret is that I did not purchase these two months ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Miracle!, September 27, 2009
This review is from: MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Scentless (Misc.)
It's a miracle! We have a 17 month old Puggle who is a handful to say the least. In fact, she could be a nightmare! We had anonymous complants from our neighbors citing city ordinances concerning 'dog barking.' We were at our wits end with her. We were considering going to the city pound. This dog would bark at the wind, the ants in the crack of the concrete, blowing leaves and the moles in the ground. She would catch sight of a neighbor who would be walking 500 feet away on the other street and still bark at the neighbor. She was nuisance to say the least.

In a passing conservation, my vet told me about a barking collar a few years ago that she used with her dogs. Well, I was desperate. I spent a lot of time looking at the various collars and did not want to shock her. This collar had the best review, so I thought I would give it a try. It works! I put the collar on her and with the first bark it sprayed her. She jumped in the air and had this shocked look on her cute little face. She barked again, it sprayed again. It took 5 times for her to get the hint. Now, we have peace and quiet when she is outside. We actually get concerned and check on her often because it is so quiet when she wears the collars.

We did forget one day to put it on her and she started barking again. She is collar dependent and that is okay with us! It works when she wears it and the power button doesn't have to be on. I can't ask for anything more! We are happy campers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works, but furry dogs beware, February 5, 2010
This review is from: MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Scentless (Misc.)
Thank the LORD something finally works! I've tried the supersonic bark deterrents, the shock collars, everything. Nothing worked until this. Well, let's qualify that. Nothing worked at all until I tried this, which works ok. I have a Shetland Sheepdog (ridiculous barkers), and yes, the spray does scare him and make him stop barking under certain conditions. The problem is he has such long fur - that's the way the breed is - that the collar slips under and just sprays into his neck fur. The sound and feeling still unnerve him, but it's not as effective. If something really scares him, then he'll just keep barking and bear it. The collar does however, cut down immensely on his "boredom" barking. I suspect it would work much better for dogs with shorter fur, so that's why it gets an extra star. Contrary to other reviews, I found it easy to refill and set up, however it is impossible to tell how full it is, so you just have to guess, and hope that it doesn't run out when you're gone for a few hours. Definitely recommend though.

I've tried other citronella bark collars and have had 3 out of 3 fail within weeks of purchase. This one works great - although my Dalmation has figured out how softly he can bark and not have the thing go off. ;-) No worries, though, a few sweet, soft "ruff"s and then he's done. This brand came recommended to me by co-workers and I've been very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Border Collie Barks NO More, May 24, 2010

This review is from: MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Scentless (Misc.)
The blessing on my home that I have been waiting six years for. I have a border collie who barks. And barks. And barks. Barks. Barks. Barks. The sky is falling. We are under attack. Mail's here. She barks at everything.

Three weeks ago I purchased the MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Scentless and it has changed my life. I was skeptical at first; with her lack of training and my lack of effort, but the second we put this on our pup it worked. Jax, the BC, has learned how to quietly growl, still alerting me of potential hazards but has completely seized the non-stop barking.

I have recommended this bark collar to everyone! It's safe around my six month old baby, Jax does not get sprayed if my other dogs bark. It's easy to use and doesn't smell.

LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace at last with our Miniature Schnauzer, November 7, 2010

I got this product on Monday and put it on as instructed without the spray being filled and without the battery. I think this is important and you should make your dog wear it for a few days first before filling it. The reason is that they need to get us to it first and then you fill it. I think this way they don't know it's the collar spraying them or something and keeps them confused as to why they get sprayed when they bark. The instructions also said not to ever let your dog see you fill the collar with the spray or change the battery. I think it's for the same reason that they don't want the dog to "relate" being sprayed with the collar but rather "relate" being sprayed just to barking if that makes sense.

Lulu, our two year old Miniature Schnauzer is not only a barker but when we get home she sequels with the highest pitched sound I've ever heard coming out of any dog and it actually hurts my ears. I try and scold her and that doesn't work. I've tried to hold her mouth closed and shout "no barking" but then she gets excited or something and peas in the floor, on the rug, or anywhere else she is sitting. Also anytime she heard another dog come in our yard, or a noise outside she would bark like crazy. My wife would tell me to leave her alone that she is just being a dog. I disagree and feel that dogs should not bark all the time and should be able to be trained but Lulu was hopeless and I was getting to the point that I did not want her any more. My wife said if Lulu goes, she goes too. Why do I end up having to choose between a wife with a barking dog or no wife and no dog. Why couldn't I just have a wife and a dog that doesn't bark.

I tend to get long winded sometimes. Back to the collar review. My wife had to go out of town on Saturday which just happened to be the fifth day of Lulu wearing the "empty" collar. I thought this would be a great time to test this collar because if it made Lulu crazy or something at least my wife wasn't there to yell and scream at me for being cruel to her beloved Lulu. So I took it off and went into another room where she could not see me fill it and put the battery in. I got a little over-spray on it and let it sit for about 30 minutes before putting it on her because I did not want to "smell" on the collar so she might relate the two. Then I put the collar on her and left for an hour or so.

When I got home I was sure Lulu was dead because I could always here here barking in the house as soon as I drove up. Panicked, I opened the front door fully expecting to see here dead in the floor and was making a quick mental decision on what I was going to tell my wife when she got home the next day about why I killed our poor little dog. But to my surprise Lulu me me at the door, tail wagging, excited to see me but no barking, no "sequels"; just a confused look on her face as to why she wasn't barking! And another benefit I didn't have to scold her hold her mouth shut, etc. so no peeing on the floor either!

I let her out and she runs to the fence like she always does to bark at anything that moves but this time, no barking!!! I just can't believe that for $40 I solved Lulu's barking problem. Actually it wasn't Lulu's barking problem as I'm sure it did not bother her at all so I should say it solved my problem with Lulu's barking.

I'm only on day two right now and I've only hear her bark once and that was a short bark and then she stopped immediately. I told my wife that this collar was worth its weight in gold.

I will try and do an update after a couple of weeks but if this collar works in the long run like it does right now, we will all be happy campers!

This is the second purchase of this item. It worked well for our first dog and it works just as well for our second dog. They both know not to bark when it is on. It is humane, also.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked for a Short Time...on a Smart Dog!, June 23, 2008
This review is from: MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Scentless (Misc.)
Worked like a charm for a few days. Then, we didn't check whether or not the collar needed a recharge of spray, and our Beagle wore the collar all day without getting sprayed! When we refilled it, the dog didn't respond as well. Then, the battery ran out and the same thing happened. Again, our dog learned to "live with" the spray.
If we had to do it again, I would remove the battery when he wasn't wearing the collar, and remove the collar before putting him in his kennel to go to bed, to prevent uneeded sprays, etc.
We had to try a shock collar...and it works 100%. However, we keep it on no more than 8-10 hours a day and remove it & turn the battery off if we play with him and when he goes to bed in the evening.

This collar was amazing! It took only one day to make a huge difference. My dog was barking at everything that moved before and now she rarely barks. When she does, it is just a short "woof". Even if I take the collar off, she doesn't bark!
