Terrible Reference for Social Workers,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Multicultural Social Work Practice (Paperback)
I've been a Master's level social worker for 15 years and have seen how our society has changed in dealing with racial and ethnic minorities. Dr. Sue apparently would like to ignore the changes and continue to rehash the old steretypical behaviors of white Americans at their worst. All of his examples of prejudicial thinking and discriminatory actions are about whites mistreating minorities. He paints a picture of social work being run by uptight white middle class do-gooders who hold their clients to their own ethnocentric standards. Dr. Sue comes across as having personal issues with white people. The research he quotes is old and selective. The view he gives
is really detrimental to our field.

Great text and reference tool!,
This review is from: Multicultural Social Work Practice (Paperback)
D. W. Sue has outdone himself with this tremendously comprehensive, honest, and easy to understand text. Although the title implies that it is only for social workers, it is relevant for all mental health professionals and clinicians.
