The ECTACO Travel SpeechGuard TL-4 has the capability to translate speech-to-speech over 4,200 phrases: English -> German, English -> Chinese, English -> French, English -> Japanese, English -> Russian, English -> Spanish, English -> Italian. You speak into it in English, and it translates and repeats the chosen phrase in one of these 7 languages. The voice output is loud, clear and all phrases are professionally translated and narrated. The SpeechGuard TL-4 offers 8 main topics to choose from: Everyday Conversation, Traveling, Transport, Hotel, Restaurant, Shopping, Bank and Telephone, Sightseeing and My SpeechGuard section (where the user can place their favorite and most commonly used phrases). For more accessible navigation, smart search functions are available - search for single words or whole phrases, as well as a Hints section is added for the users benefit. Moreover, users can operate the SpeechGuard by means of convenient Voice Commands. It is equipped with a speech adaptation procedure which enables the system to tune in to an individual's voice. Originally created for the US Army, TL-4 carries the elements of the original design, such as a dust and waterproof case, LCD backlight for operation under limited light conditions, extendable collar microphone, and more.
