From Library Journal
This new release includes all 20 volumes (over 7500 articles and 13,000 pages) of the eighth print edition and the fifth edition of the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms (over 105,000 items). Searching, browsing, and filtering of searches continues to be straightforward. The use of multimedia is not extravagant, so if that is of primary interest to you, pass on this disc. The text dominates this edition, which covers new topics such as El Ni?o, African horsesickness, recycling technology, and sleep disorders, while still covering in detail 81 subject areas, including Biochemistry, Physics, Virology, Evolution, Medicine, and Astronomy. Bottom Line: We liked the first edition of this disc (CD-ROM Reviews, LJ 5/15/95) and also like this new one. It is a straightforward resource that provides easy access to a standard reference. We don't like that search results boxes are tiled on the screen and much prefer the Windows 95 method of placing them at the task bar. Recommended for science, college, public, and school libraries.
