From Library Journal
With QuickTime, art work, and demos for 14 software packages on a CD-ROM, Multimedia Starter Kit is a great place to begin practicing multimedia. To take advantage of the compact disc, you'll need a Mac using a color monitor and running System 7 with at least 4 MB of RAM and some storage space. The book itself is in five large parts, starting with a description of multimedia and an analysis of the process of creating a multimedia product. The center of the book looks at all of the tools, including hardware, text, graphics, animation, three-dimensional applications, QuickTime, and sound. The fourth segment looks at multimedia environments. The final chapters take you through exercises in converting a newsletter to a HyperCard and a Macromedia Director product. This gives you an opportunity to experience multimedia and begin to grasp some of the possibilities of this medium. The combination of printed text and software on a CD-ROM make for a very good place to start.
