Editorial Reviews

Recent publications on contemporary art in China have given short shrift to woodblock prints, which have a long and important history; this exhibition catalogue fills the gap. Summing Up: Highly recommended.

I am stunned. I purchased this book on a whim, not knowing much about the rich nature of relief(woodcut/linocut) printmaking in modern China. The book covers the most part of the 20th century with a big concentration on post Mao era artworks, and living contemporary artists. I can not tell you how amazed I was with the quality of artworks and the spirit in which these were produced. The artworks have amazing detail and stunning social commentary. It is a fantastic collection of prints by masterful artists and I could not be more pleased with this book.
