5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing, October 21, 2007
I've been living with MS for 5 years. Mostly dennying it to myself. I always thought MS was just motor/sensory symptoms and blamed myself for the insomnia, the fatigue, the forgetfulness... I thought I was just being lazy and I needed to work harder. This book opened my mind to the real facts about MS and helped me to cope with my illness.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book on MS, June 8, 2008
I have reviewed all of the major lay books on MS. I think MS For Dummies is, by far, the best of all of the general books on MS. It is easy to read and contains information that should be helpful for everyone from lay readers who do not know anything about MS to MS-specialized health professionals. It contains a huge amount of information. It may be read cover-to-cover or be kept as a reference book. I highly recommend this book. I frequently recommend it to my patients and to other health professionals.

This book covers everything (even questions I didn't think to ask) in such a manner as to be easy and interesting to follow. There are links and references throughout that help the reader research any given topic to what ever level they desire. I highly recommend this book to either the patient, friend, or family member of someone with MS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overview and Reference Guide About MS, October 7, 2009
By
After 22 months of symptoms, the diagnosis now has a name . . . it's MS. I checked this book out at our local library. It is such an exceptional reference guide that I have purchased my own copy. I learned so much about 'why' and 'how' the bowels and bladder are affected, and laughter suddenly turns to tears. Understanding the four courses of MS is also key to understanding this disease. I needed a rapid education on MS so that I can ask the right questions during my neurologist's visit. I even recommended the book to my neurologist so that he could suggest it to his patients. If you select only one MS book, this is the one you want in your library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most informative MS book ever, April 2, 2009
I have had MS for 30 years. When I was diagnosed nothing much was known about MS. Until now I only found out some of what was caused by MS after it happened. Some things that happened I still didn't know they were MS. This book has completly explained why and how certain symptoms occur and how to handle them. I bought copies for my BFF and all my children to help them to understand and deal with me without guilt (ex mood swings, day long crying jags) and be able to help as needed. It has helped bring my family together.

Having had MS for over 25 years I found this book to be very informative. It's a great reference tool for both the newly diagnosed and those of us that have lived with MS for several years. I am better able now to reference a symptom correctly when discribing a problem to my neurologist. I am better informed therefore a better patient. I like having a say-so in my treatments.
