Excellent book, very informative question and answer format.,

I have had M.S. for about two years. I waslooking for a book to answer specific questions I had. This book did a great job. The format of the book is arranged in the question and answer style. You can look up a question in the index, go to the page identified and get the information without reading the entire book. This is a great advantage in gaining information on specific problems associated with a very complicated disease.

Outdated Information,
By A Customer
This review is from: Multiple Sclerosis: The Questions You Have the Answers You Need (Paperback)
While this book was very informative, it had very outdated information. A separate booklet was sent with this book, to update some of the information, but even this was outdated material. I don't think enough information was given about the various tests that you have to go through, to be diagnosed. Telling a person more about what to expect during these tests, helps to alleviate the patients fears.

This is THE book you will ever need,

Awesome coverage of all the areas from the basics, to employment and insurance issues, to latest research to many other things.I bought 2 other books along with this. But after reaing this one, I returned the other two books and it made them redundant. If you need to buy just one book (even if you have the money to buy 10 books on MS), this is the ONLY book you will ever need.

Best MS Reference Book,

I was diagnosed nearly two years ago, and this book has been a very valuable reference. I keep going back to it again and again as I have questions, and despite other reviewers' comments, I felt it was up to date when I purchased it. Perhaps these comments were based on an older edition? I also found the index to be very user-friendly. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with MS.

I bought this book for a friend who was recently diagnosed with MS. At that point, neurologists and specialized MS-nurses are constantly all over you. This irritates my friend especially when her questions are not answered quickly and fully. That is where the book comes in. My friend says the book is better than her neurologist and the MS-nurse put together.

Truly everything you need to know. I wish there was a book like this with Canadian information in it, but this one does answer most questions. It is a HEAVY book, and thick. If you are having trouble comprehending things, you might want to start with "Multiple Sclerosis for Dummies" by the same author. Simpler, more white space, same good information.
Oh, and if you are just starting on the MS journey, this book might scare you a bit. The details of advanced MS can lead you into dark passages. Dip in as you need it and don't read it cover to cover....

The best overall reference text for questions about Multiple Sclerosis,
This review is from: Multiple Sclerosis: The Questions You Have - the Answers You Need (Paperback)
This book answers most of your questions about MS with short, readable, and reliable answers. Very good indexing and cross referencing to related questions helps to find the right question to ask for the information you want. More expensive than other MS books, but packed with far more content. We use this book all the time in my MS support group.

I've had MS for over 15 years. This is the best, most informative book that I have found. I located at a medical library, checked it out, and could not stop reading it. There is so much information! So many tips and suggestions about things like making your home a safer/easier place to live; how to continue working or how to stop working, how to get help so that you can work from home; talking to your kids, family & friends about your illness; understanding what you are going through; and more!
And it is all easy to read, easy to understand. I wish that it had been written when I was first diagnosed and going through all the problems that I had. It is so helpful! I bought myself a copy, and since then have met people who cannot afford the book due to medical expenses. So I have been buying them copies - that's how important I think this is! You have to get this book. It will help your life or the life of someone you know... Whether you have MS, are a caregiver, a friend, in the medical field, a librarian - get it! |
