3.0 out of 5 stars OK for an additional study on the Times Tables
Every book helps some but it is hard to listen long enough to grasp it all. My daughter listened a few times but soon plugged her ears. What can I say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best multiplication resource I've ever tried., August 22, 1999

This review is from: Multiplication Unplugged with CD (Audio) (Audio Cassette)
I purchased this for use with my third grade class and I have to say that we played it so much I had to replace the tape! This collection of songs was put together with a great deal of thought. Each melody is different, very musical and very catchy. NOT the usual rap sounds that I had expected to hear. As a matter of fact, the tunes are so catchy they almost have a hypnotic effect. Even adults find themselves singing the times tables after class. (Looks a bit crazy, I know!)

What I especially like about these songs is that they also teach skip counting. The chorus of every single song is actually skip counting. So, not only do students learn all of their timetables, they can count by 6's, 7's, even 12's with no problem! The use of skip counting makes this tape perfect for grade three students as a primer and for grade four students as a resource and review.

The flip side of the cassette allows for students to test themselves.

I have had many students tell me that they do well on their tests because of these songs! I often recommend this cassette kit for home use as a fun way to review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corny songs, but they work!, February 26, 2005

My daughter was convinced she was never going to be able to memorize all of those times tables, so I bought this CD. The songs are a bit folkish, but the rhythym suits each table and made quick work of memorization for her. We listen to it in the car and now are listening to Division Unplugged as well. The bonus...my 5 year old AND my two year old can sing most of the times tables as well. They don't know what they are, but that'll come later. Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Kids!, August 2, 2005

My child has a processing disorder which make math extremely difficult. She has always been able to learn song lyrics easily, and this CD was no exception. Kids in 2nd grade can get a great start to 3rd grade math by learning to count by multiples of numbers 2 through 12. I would definitely recommend to all kids, especially those who like music, but not learning basic multiplication.

I bought several Multiplication CD's and this was absolutely the best one. It includes skip counting which really has helped my daughter learn her multiplication facts. Buy this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars It worked, not as planned, but worked, July 23, 2006
I bought this CD for my 9 year old nephew and I have to be honest that he hated it. BUT it still worked, I told him to learn them and we'd quit listening to the CD and he learned at lightening speed just to get away from it. The tunes can be a little folksy but I thought it was a good way to learn and it does stick in your head.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective, February 22, 2008
The music part of this packet is excellent. I've read criticisms about the music, but let's be realistic: it's multiplication tables. It needs to be musically simple and catchy. It's not technically "folksy," but is very similar to the style of music on most CDs for small children. The lyrics in the accompanying book are helpful, but not so much the worksheets. There is one page per number, which assumes that a child is going to master the multiplication tables on the first go-round. I've been printing out supplemental pages each day and doing each number daily for a week. It's catching on where the dry drills weren't.

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy way and efficient way to learn to multiply, December 19, 2009

I bought this for my 8 yr. old granddaughter who was having trouble retaining the multiplication facts. She is an "A" student and usually learns easily but just as it seemed that she had the facts in her head she'd lose them. She understood how to multiply and could work out the answer but we wanted her to memorize the facts so she could do her math work quickly and efficiently. The music is catchy, if not current. My daughter and son in law had a laugh over the tunes but were soon impressed. As a result of listening to the cd in the car and twice daily before falling asleep she quickly learned to count by 2s - 12s. She then progressed so that she's learned her times tables quickly and easily. Her teacher is so impressed that she has recommended it to the rest of the 3rd grade class. My granddaughter did not seem to like the book as well, but the purpose was for her to learn to multiply quickly and she has done so. I would recommend this cd to everyone. Just keep in mind that it needs to be played and sung along to - so play it in the car and sing along. It makes for a good family fun time as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's True What They Say, June 28, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read the reviews for this CD and was hopeful that they were true...and they were! The songs are all different from eachother (unlike another multiplication CD I bought) and very cute. The skip-counting is a real bonus. If you have an auditory learner and/or a music lover, this is a good choice.
