5.0 out of 5 stars Multiplication Unplugged
Hi, I am a Home School parent. I have been looking for a good music set to help me teach my third graders their times tables. I bought and was going to use Multiplication Songs by Audio Memory when a friend of mine lent me her Multiplication Unplugged. I listened to it and liked it much better than the Audio Memory set. 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I bought this CD for my 9 year old son. It is a comprehensive CD and is well laid out. However my son found the songs "childish" and thought they were uninteresting. I agree with him as the songs have a "Nursery Rhyme" feel to them.

The songs are all different and most of them are upbeat. They are so fun you almost feel like getting up and dancing along with them as you sing. We use Saxon Math with our kids. Multiplication unplugged counts by the number you are multiplying before they go into the multiplication facts for that number. This goes right along with the methods that Saxon uses for their math. I am going to recommend it to all my friends. It's Great!

5.0 out of 5 stars The reviewers are right!, December 29, 2002
By A Customer

I bought this CD based on the reviews I read here. I ordered both Multiplication Rock and Multiplication Unplugged. Multiplication Unplugged was by far the best. We found Mult. Rock difficult to follow. My 8 year old learned all the songs on "Unplugged" during a road trip. She has strong math and musical skills and this CD was a great way to keep her entertained on a long trip. Thanks to everyone that takes the time to write a review, it is very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 year old learns multiplication in 7 days, August 20, 2002

I bought this CD and others for my 7 year old and played it in the car. Both my 5 and 7 year olds now know their multiplication tables. It is much easier for a young child to follow than Multiplication Rock. As a math teacher, I love that it makes them understand what multiplication is. Great CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and effective, August 3, 2001

My daughter, entering fourth grade, learned more multiplication facts in a week using this CD than she did in six months of flash cards! She is always listening to her CD player in the car, so it worked out perfectly. I only wish I had known about this CD earlier. I will certainly try Division Unplugged next.

My 8yo daughter is extremely difficult to teach new things to. She's a perfectionist. So when I tried to start teaching her multiplication (she's homeschooled), I was extremely frustrated. I got online and bought this CD. She didn't want to listen to it, but I put the CD on in the car on the way to Gymnastics. By the time we got there, she said that she liked it and "if I can learn all the words to an Avril Lavigne song, I can learn these songs and then I'll know my times tables!" We've been listening in the car for two weeks now and she's hooked. She knows the 2's and 3's and 4's by heart and she has confidence that she will be able to learn the higher numbers if we keep listening to the CD. We also say the tables out loud, do flashcards and she has a CD-ROM game. However, she seems to get the most out of this Audio CD.

The songs are a bit corny, but they definitely stick in your head...a plus for memorizing, a minus when you're a parent trying to fall asleep at night. Overall, we liked this CD and I'm ordering the others (Addition, Subtraction and Division) to help my daughter gain some confidence in performing those operations. Good luck to all!

I bought the following CDs:

1. Multiplication unplugged, $11.99, 73 minutes play time
Out of these 3 CDs, this one is, by far, the best quality and value. 5 stars.

2. Multiplication Intelli-tunes by Ron Brown.
$14.99, 28 minutes - 2 stars

3. Multiplication Hip Hop $13.99, 31 minutes - 1.5 stars

I bought a CD on Multiplication by Ron Brown of Intelli-Tunes and this has gone down a treat with my son. There is a great variety of song styles including Rap and Rock. They have a much greater appeal.
I'm afraid I cannot really recommend Multiplication Unplugged.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy music!, July 2, 2006
This review is from: Multiplication Unplugged (Audio CD)
For my daughter who has learning problems (including memory), this has been the best CD for learning multiplication tables of several we have tried. It has both skip counting and the actual facts. The music is catchy and varies from number to number to help keep them straight. Even my middle schooler boy (who had to listen to it in the car), was heard singing along and cementing those facts! It also plays the songs with blanks so you can test your child with the same music.

My 8 year old daughter just couldn't seem to memorize her tables. Some of the reviews of this cd were a bit discouraging, but I decided to give it a try since my child loves music. I agree that the songs are a bit sappy, but I have my daughter listen to it nightly and after 2 weeks, she is singing all of her tables. For my child, music is a great learning tool. I have also just purchased the other cd's (addition, subtraction and division unplugged) in hopes they may help her master her facts without all the frustration of timed drills/flash cards.
