Since I found Furniss' book, close to the time of it's publication, it has been a major resource for me. I think it is a classic work. It provides a reasoned, calm, intelligent response to suspicions of child abuse. I haven't found anything better. I use a slight modification of his explanation of the "nature of the sex abuse trauma" in all my teaching and have found that even experienced therapists are amazed at the clarity it provides to cases they work with. His suggestions for teamwork are invaluable.
