Multipurpose Bamboo Charcoal Air Freshener for Use Around the House to Keep Your Clothes Drawers, Closets, Shelves, Bathrooms, Laundry Room, and Kitchen Clean Smelling and Fresh

It works. I stuck it under my sink next to my trash can--where I dump all the food trash--and overnight the rotten egg smell was completely gone. Then I put it in my fridge and it worked there as well--when the fresh baking soda didn't work at all. The only thing I didn't realize is that there is no smell--it doesn't replace the stink with something clean or fresh, it just absorbs the bad odor. So the trash smells like plastic and trash, and the fridge like cold and old food, but none of the awful smells linger.

I had a nagging odor in my laundry room that was traveling into my other living spaces. I wanted something natural that was not a perfume and this seemed to fit the bill. After a few days, to my amazement, there was no trace of the odor. Not sure how this tiny little thing works, but I am impressed.

Interestingly, I got an email from Amazon with some instructions that were not included on the item's packaging, the most important of which is to shake it up a bit once a week. They probably need to update the packaging at some point to include these instructions.

I still use baking soda in the fridge, but would be curious to see if anyone is trying this in his/her fridge and what the experience is like.


Instruction for your reference:

1. Push in the tab that says Open on the top of the product. Then peel back and remove the cover.
2. Place the air freshener on a shelf, table, bookcase, etc.
3. You can also use it to control odors and bacteria in the refrigerator and pantry, or in a closet, drawer, basement, or other storage area.
4. Use in the bathroom, laundry room, or garage as well.
5. About every week or so, please gently shake your air freshener in order to mix the Activated Bamboo Carbon sachet inside the decorative round box.
6. Your air freshener should last 6-12 months.
7. To use as a Fruit & Veggie Saver, place in the refrigerator produce bin, or out on the counter in a COVERED bowl with fresh fruits.

Works well, but then again we have ceiling fans throughout our entire house, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Some other reviews were concerned about circulation. You can't beat this stuff. I also use it in my daycare, bedroom, kitchen, and my dogs' room on the second floor (pretty much everywhere). People tell me all the time that the air is different in my house. My daycare is on the first floor of my home, and it even smells great all through the first floor. I'm a very happy customer!

So I bought this because one of three new pieces of furniture that I bought for my apartment was off gassing. I personally hate the artificial smells that those cones throw out so I wanted to find a cheap alternative to air freshening that also didn't smell just as bad as the smell it was hiding. Imagine my surprise then when I landed upon this little gem. Not only has it gotten rid of 90% of the horrible chemical smell that had been lingering in my room for a month, but it continues to work. Housemate walks past your room just after putting on obnoxious cologne? Smell quickly gone. Plate of food left on you desk over night? No smell in the morning. Off gassing furniture that make your room nearly unbearable? Your room is now bearable. Do note that the room that I have this in does have air movement, which as anyone should be able to guess is a must for activated charcoal to do anything. I'm not saying I have a wind farm in my room, but the occasional air shift by a fan certainly helps. I can't speak for the other sometimes hilarious claims that are made on the rest of this page about what this does, but I can certainly back up its claim regarding air freshening.

Although activated charcoal does trap and remove odor and VOCs from air, without a fan or anything to circulate the air past the small container, I did not notice any effect from this item. We bought some to use in a freshly painted room and also in the bedroom where our new foam mattress was off-gassing. This product had no effect on the fumes. It might work better in a smaller space such as a car or closet, but in a normal sized room it's not effective.

Instead I ended up using zeolite carpet deodorizer sprinkled on the new mattress for a day and then vacuumed up - that helped more than the charcoal bamboo.

THe container looks pretty nice.

Okay, I was skeptical of this product. I know activated carbon does absord odors MUCH better than baking soda but had my doubts about it keeping the cat area odor free.

The cat area has very little circulation of air (noted in another review) and has the liter box and food. It actually does a great job of picking up the odor. It has been there for 2 months and is working well.

The only reason for the 4 of 5 is I think this is still a bit pricey.

I am very sensitive to smells and irritants. And we live in an older house that can be musty. This product works! And it works fast. I am so thankful to have found this product and I highly recommend it.

I have no idea what this so called charcoal air freshener is 'really' meant to do but I read some of the reviews and I tried it in my car but it didn't seem to make much of any difference. I even left it in my car for a month or two and still nothing. What a waste.

Does anyone have any idea as to how long it lasts before you get rid of it?

We have three little kids and three dogs, and I wanted something to get rid of kid and dog odors in our mud room and laundry room. This product works! I recommend it. We also put one in our closet.

Not effective in eliminating odor in my car after 1 month of use. Tried a fan to circulate air in the car, but no impact on odor elimination.

Waste of money.
