Great book- ridiculous price, May 15, 2001
This review is from: Multivariate Calibration (Paperback)
I used the previous edition of this book to teach myself the basics of mulitvariate calibration for use in my research on microfluidic biosensor systems. It is well written with a good development of concepts. It also does a good job of defining the multiplicity of redundant terms in this jargon-soaked field. It requires knowledge of basic linear algebra and assumes an analytical chemistry background. Overall I would recommend it for its content. The price of this edition, however, is criminal. The editing in the '89 edition was atrocious and the graphics very basic. I suppose this new edition could have cleaned that all up... but please! It's only 400-odd pages and it's a paperback! I'm shopping on e-bay for this one.

Martens and Naes do an excellent service by providing an indepth presentation on multivariate calibration. I recommend this book to all who want more than a cursory look at this topic which so many others provide.
