This review is from: Multiwinia (Video Game)
Honestly I don't know why Amazon has a listing for this at all. You should purchase it as a download through Steam if possible. ANYway...
This is a fun little RTS. You can find a demo of it through Steam and the demo is worth playing. It's an RTS consisting of a battle between stick figures. Yep. Stick figures. This game's graphics do not astound but it's actually well done and fitting. It's like Tetris -- yes, you could have fully animated awesome 3-D units but why? All that does is bog the gameplay down with unnecessary detail. Multiwinia's units are stick figures. These stick figures are brutal. Basically, you are in a huge infantry battle. There are no resources, research or build orders. Your army pops out of spawn points at a set rate, so you are fighting for control of spawns plus any other goal the game may have set for you. For example, there is: * King of the Hill -- this is like "capture and hold". There are areas on the map you need to secure to generate points. Secure them by moving troops to that spot and killing anyone who tries to take it from you (you'll also need to protect your spawn locations, of course...) * Assault -- one team has a "WMD" they must guard for 15 minutes. The defense team has walls, turrets and controls most of the map at the start of the match but only has 1 spawn point. The attackers have nothing except about 6+ uncapturable spawn points. The defenders must hold out against this massive infantry rush until the timer runs out and the WMD can be used. * Capture the Statue -- there are statues around the map. Send your troops to pick up the statues and carry them back to your base to begin accumulating points. Also shoot all the enemies and take their statues. Also protect your spawn spots... * Rocket -- every team starts with a giant rocket. You must capture neighboring fuel stations to fuel up your rocket and then fill your rocket with troops so you can blast off. First to blast off wins. Be sure to defend your rocket, too, since enemies can attack it directly to make it lose fuel. There's other game modes as well. The game offers a pretty nice selection of game modes and maps for 2-4 players. There are a couple of other features worth mentioning -- Formations: you can turn one unit into an officer and have him form the other units into a formation. Formations are excellent at chokepoints or anywhere that they can blast enemies in front of them but they are vulnerable to flanking and close combat (stick figures in formation are resolute and will hold their ground. Stick figures not in formation tend to be "rabble" and have questionable morale under fire). Crates: Crates drop randomly around the map. You need to capture them with your troops to get the contents. Crates tend to contain very powerful (and unusual) items including airstrikes, eggs that hatch monsters, giant anthills, armored personnel carriers, gun turrets, etc. Fighting over crates is almost as important as fighting over the objective. This game may not be "Starcraft 2" but it's a fun little RTS with pretty much anything you could hope for in an RTS. And it's cheap. At the very least, you should check out the demo.
