Book Description

April 15, 2008 9 and up4 and up
I’m Sadie and I’m nearly nine. Mum’s a childminder, but she doesn’t have to mind me. I can mind myself, easy-peasy. Lucky for Mum, because now she’s got the flu, so I’ve got to mind her — and help with all the babies!

The Mum-Minder is a hilarious, lively and warm-hearted account of a chaotic week in the life of a young girl.

“Jacqueline Wilson, whose books just keep getting better, always puts children at the centre and is also an expert on tweens.”–The Times

From AudioFile

Jacqueline Wilson never fails to deliver a perfect story from the child's point of view. Sadie's mum is a baby-sitter (child-minder) for several children. When she's hit with the flu, kids and parents alike feel her absence. As Sadie and the perplexed parents band together to keep the kids occupied for several days, they come to greatly appreciate the hard work of the child-minder. Aldred sounds great as tiny children, harried parents and snooty grandparents. She takes us along as the children wreak havoc in a police station (where one tyke insists on calling a stern sergeant "daddy"), help office workers cope without a paper shredder and droolingly visit a chocolate shop. A very funny story reveals some real truths. 3.0 out of 5 stars The Mum Minder, September 8, 2001

The Mum Minder
By Jacqueline Wilson

This story is about the week in the life of an eight-year old girl called Sadie whose mother is a child minder. Sadies mother looks after three year old Gemma, two year old Vincent, baby Clive and Sadies sister Sara. During the week of the school holidays, Sadies mother gets the flu. This book tells the story of how Sadie helped all the other mums to look after the children in turn by taking them to their workplaces. By the end of the week Sadies mother feels better but Sadie and Sara catch the flu!

This book is light hearted and has got quite a few laughs in it.
My favourite part is when all the little children pinch the chocolates from Clives mums shop. I think it is a good book and I would recommend it to a friend of similar age.

I would rate this book 3/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit book by Jacqueline Wilson, April 12, 2001
Another GREAT book by Jacqueline Wilson. This one tells the story of Dolphin, her sister, and her mum. When they were little girls, Dolphin & Star loved their mum with all their hearts, Dolphin still does, but she's not too sure about Star. Dolphin always felt that Star was the favourite, even more so now, and she had gotten used to it being that way. But then, Star meets her dad, whom the girls have never met before and Dolphin's whole world gets turned up side down. Will things ever go back to normal? to find out you have to read the book!
