5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Ricochet Lost Worlds (DVD) (CD-ROM)
This is a really great game - in fact, it's quite addictive!

"Ricochet Lost Worlds" has many, many different levels, each with increasing difficulty. The object of the game is to ricochet a ball off of a "spring board"-type item in order to smash the board of "bricks".

Of course, there are several twists... On one level, your ball starts out REALLY small, and you have to hit a special brick that releases an item that will make your ball normal size again - if you catch it in time.

I've been playing this game on & off for several months now, and the farthest I've gotten is level 24, and it appears that there are many, many more new levels left. I think this is great since, once you beat a game, you generally don't play it anymore - and, with so many levels, you'll be able to enjoy this game for quite some time.

Overall, I give it a 2 thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game -- Addictive, July 11, 2008
By
This review is from: Ricochet Lost Worlds (DVD) (CD-ROM)
I first played Richochet Lost Worlds on my new (Vista) HP Computer. It was part of the bloat-ware pre-installed under games. Really it's a pretty simple game. The player uses the mouse to project a ball up toward a collection of obstacles arranged in different patterns based on the current playing level. Sometimes the obstacles are easy to destroy with the ball, sometimes they seem impassable unless you hit JUST the right ones. Sometimes the targets/obstacles change the balls properties (speed, strength, content). In either case, once the ball bounces around and over the obstacles it will eventually come back down. The player must then position a (space ship?) to ricochet it back up to do more damage to the obstacles AND to collect floating rings which elevate the player to the next level. It's a really basic game but I got hooked! I didn't want to purchase it online but it was impossible to find in stores. I FINALLY found another iteration of the game at a local Walmart for $20. I went back the next day to buy another copy for a friend - they were all gone. I haven't played every level yet but so far, there is no violence, no sex and no obscene language. This one is a sleeper, big fun and for some reason too tough to find in stores. Hopefully that changes. If you can find a copy, buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE CULMINATION OF A REALLY FUN CONCEPT!, December 7, 2007

From PONG, to BREAKOUT, to ARKANOID, to RICOCHET. This is the evolution line of the Rebounding game genre. And with RICOCHET: LOST WORLDS it has reached its apex.
As with most species evolving amongst greater, more ferocious and more aggressive competition, the RICOCHET series have developed a highly addictive gameplay and the ability to offer GREAT FUN!

The concept is simple enough: move your paddle left and right to make the ball rebound and break all the obstacles of each level. Twists? Of course there are twists! Your paddle can get larger (or shorter) and it can acquire special abilities (from magnetism to sharpshooting accuracy); moreover, the bouncing ball can also be up- or downgraded (depending on what falling bonuses you catch.

The levels are exceptionally well designed, the sound sets the mood for "just one more level" - and there is even a growing community from which one can download extra level-packs for FREE!

This is an excellent example of what has come to be known as Casual Gaming: small, resource-flexible games that are fun for the whole family.
It would not be a bad idea to download the 60-min trial version from a casual games site, such as REFLEXIVE (you can Google it), and decide for yourself whether this is indeed your cup of tea.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
