4.0 out of 5 stars Has its quirks, fun overall
I agree with creativedawn. The problems I have are in navigation. It's fun, just like the other games, but it has some flaws in navigation and the fact that there's simply ZERO help once you start moving around within the game. I'm still TRYING to play the darn thing! LOL I find that as I'm moving around, I'm playing areas out of order, and it's hard to determine exactly...

I purchased Jewel Quest III online. At first I enjoyed playing the game. The visuals are different and attractive. Now, less than a week later, I can't go any further in the quest because I can't win any more boards to capture additional jewels. I agree with creativedawn. The problems I have are in navigation. It's fun, just like the other games, but it has some flaws in navigation and the fact that there's simply ZERO help once you start moving around within the game. I'm still TRYING to play the darn thing! LOL I find that as I'm moving around, I'm playing areas out of order, and it's hard to determine exactly which order you need to go in, because as you move your mouse around, the world moves with you, giving you little to no guidance as to where to go. The help menu is of no use in this matter. Overall, tho, it's a lot of fun, as it's challenging if you have the stubbornness and like playing the layouts enough to want to just push past that to get to the win! I've played several areas more than once, and keep forgetting where I'm going. But once you find your way, you WILL earn those jewels, and then you feel a sense of accomplishment. Then, you're addicted again for hours on end. Stubborn, who? Me? Eh... ;) Enjoy!

I have all three jewel quest programs. I just bought Jewel Quest III and really enjoy it. It has a map room with options for going to different continents to play. The music is upbeat but not obnoxious.

It has a few quirks (like if you choose different areas out of order it is confusing trying to figure out how to get to the next level. There is no help button once you start playing!)

It has 3 levels of games in each location; a silver quest, hidden quest, and a 3rd one (forgot name). You are awarded unique jewels for each level. You can leave the map room to go to the tournament room too. It's more advanced than the previous versions of jewel quest but still really fun.

My only complain is the lack of help once you get past level one. (It's not obvious how to get to the next levels. I reached level 2 Hidden Quests on two of the continents but have no idea how I did it!) It's a great game well worth adding to your collection. You won't be bored! :)

I purchased Jewel Quest III online. At first I enjoyed playing the game. The visuals are different and attractive. Now, less than a week later, I can't go any further in the quest because I can't win any more boards to capture additional jewels. This version is too darn hard, while Jewel Quest II was on the easy side. In III, one location has you capturing monkeys and putting them in cages, which is very hard to do. Then, if you don't manage the monkeys correctly, they escape from their cages and you have just wasted your time for nothing. Very frustrating, not fun at all. At another point you have to link gold coins together in order to unlock cells. That's fine, except not enough coins fall for you to effectively link and unlock. Designers: if you want me to link coins, please have enough of them drop for me to have a chance of doing it.

The game takes forever to load. Grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich, come back and it will still be loading.

The storyline is not in sequence and makes little sense. All they had to do is make JQ2 a little more difficult. They ruined the game by making so many changes to it and having it play so difficult.

As for me, I'm going back to Jewel Quest II.

This is the second one I have bought from Amazon, the first I bought as used. It would not let me earn the jewels. The second said it was new and it did the same thing. Part of it had already been used and I still cannot get any jewels.
I am very disipointed.

I've enjoyed all four of the Jewel Quest games. In this one, you will find several puzzles that are a real challenge to get past. Unlike Jewel Quest (the first one), you are not given the option to advance by giving up a life...since lives are not counted in this game. Nor can you collect special moves for all the puzzles, as you can in Jewel Quest II, to get you past the harder puzzles. You move forward only by completing the puzzles...which could take some serious time and patience.

I don't have an addictive bone in my body. I have been addicted to this game for nearly a year -- even though it crashes every time I complete a level or two. The reason I keep playing is that someday I might see what the next level looks like after China!! I would discourage anyone from buying this game.

Once again I've found a GREAT Jewel Quest game!! It amazes me how they can take a basic idea for a drop game and make so many variations.

I liked this game a lot because I own Jewel Quest 2 and I enjoyed that one so I knew I would like this one because it was going to be more of a challenge.

Jewel Quest III is even more adictive than the first two. New screens, better puzzles. I haven't been able to stay away for a full day - don't get started unless you have the time to play or you will be losing sleep!
