5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome April 8, 2013

I bought this book for my husband and we have been nothing but pleased with it. I feel it needs to be made clear THIS IS A GUITAR BOOK NOT A PIANO BOOK despite what the other reviews might lead you to believe. It has chords, notation, and tabs for each song and even multiple parts for some. We love playing from this book, and I am sure anyone else who is a fan of the band will enjoy it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad. March 5, 2012

I am an intermediate piano player (2 yrs of experience).

This book is put together pretty well. Not every song on this album translates well to piano - I don't believe there is a keyboard being played in any of the actual songs. Some parts in the songs are fairly impossible to translate to anyone but a master pianist (typically the high tempo banjo parts) and are not present in the piano arrangements, which I didn't miss. Most songs are recognized easily, though. Slower songs like 'Sigh No More' come out very well, other songs that are translating and merging heavy guitar and vocal parts like 'The Cave' are certainly very recognizable and sound good.

Chords are listed above the staff lines if you are looking to just play rhythm, though if you're a solo pianist like me, the right hand staffing typically integrates vocals in well while the left plays the lead or rhythm guitar parts. Other instruments (like violin) that are looking to be able to these songs (especially the vocals) and are comfortable to play in a treble range could read music from here too.
