5.0 out of 5 stars Enter A Realm Of Magic, October 21, 2001

This review is from: The Mummers' Dance (Audio CD)
I now own both The Mask and Mirror and The Book Of Secrets, but I purchased this single awhile back and regret waiting so long to purchase the full length albums which are equally amazing. This has got to be the ultimate starters kit. I mean, almost everything that Loreena McKennitt puts out is extradinary but these are her two most famous most renoun songs ever. It includes the radio friendly and longer album version of The Murmurs Dance while also including my favorite song by her, The Mystic's Dream. So if you're considering buying something by Loreena McKennitt for the first time ever than I suggest starting out with this teaser of a sampler and I guarantee that you'll be begging for more...

Many people have heard the radio version of "Mummer's Dance". It is the song that really made Loreena McKenit famous. What people do not realize is that she put out some outstanding pieces before her radio debut. One of them is on this little single. The whole CD is excellent if you like the "Mummer's Dance", and both the radio version and the album version are on it. For three and a half dollars, you really can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, February 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mummers' Dance (Audio CD)
This song is one of the greatest I have ever heard. It literally gives me chills every time I hear it. "The Mummer's Dance" is akin to a fairy tale that takes the listener to a past with no cars, television, internet, telephones, or cd's. The blurred image on the album cover says it all: this album is like a spotting scope to Celtic society and village life, when things were still mystical and magic and religion predominated the lives of curious people. This song WILL TAKE YOU AWAY, guaranteed.
