This review is from: Mummy Movie Prequel: The Rise & Fall of Xango's Ax (Paperback)
This was written as a throwback to the pulp fiction tales from the 30s-40s (with a hint of a Spaghetti Western tossed in to boot!), tied-in to blockbuster THE MUMMY franchise. Events here lead directly into the third and final MUMMY film.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed by this book., August 29, 2008

This review is from: Mummy Movie Prequel: The Rise & Fall of Xango's Ax (Paperback)
I was very disappointed by this novel. It claims to be the official prelude to the new movie, but there's no mention of China, Dragon Emperors, or terra cotta warriors. We get instead loin clothed crazies running wild in Burma in a story that's not really all that interesting. The worst thing about this book for me was the fact that Evy is missing from this adventure. I had wondered if she would be drawn to look like Rachel Weisz or Maria Bello, and the answer is NEITHER! All we see of Evy is her back and her hand that's writing a letter to explain her absence. She was certainly missed, at least by me. Jonathan and Ardeth Bey were also MIA and not even mentioned once.It just didn't feel like THE MUMMY to me. The story could have been about anyone! If you're a huge Brendan Fraser fan, you might like the eight colored photos of him at the back of the book, but for everyone else I'd just say skip it.
