Amazon.com Product Description

As Rick O'Connell, players combat the living dead and other ghostly residents of Hamunaptra, City of the Dead, in The Mummy. The game puts the fate of the film's heroes in the hands of the player as he searches for treasures and attempts to defeat Imhotep, the guardian mummy. There are numerous mummies to battle, each with their own unique abilities, plus a horde of other creepy characters, such as scarabs, spirits, and swarms of locusts. Complete with terrifying visuals and sound effects fashioned after the hit movie, The Mummy will thrill those who dare to enter its grim and cavernous paths. The locations depicted throughout have been re-created from the screenplay of the film and include interactive environments such as trapdoors, pitfalls, breakaway platforms, and hidden traps. Customized character behavior and real-time action lend authenticity to the game settings. Atmospheric pre-lighting, spot effects, and live sparks highlight the chilling action hiding around every corner.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'THE MUMMY'.... IS GREAT, May 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mummy (CD-ROM)
This game is straight from the movie. It has fairly good graphics, but the people are 'boxy'. It is an all out 'shoot em up' game, but as with the movie nothing bleeds. It has terrifying visual and sound effects and is most enjoyable. You get the greatest feeling of satasfaction with the completion of each level. It is an exellent challenge, but not too difficult to handle. It's a good game for you if you are looking for an action packed, something-around-every-corner type of game. It needs no brain power, you just have to figure out how many shots or slashes everything requires so as not to use up all your ammo (it becomes very valuable so as i prefer swords).

It starts out slowly with scenes from the movie and slowly builds up to more difficult adversaries. It provides a challenge with 6 types of mummies (not including the mummy himself, you don't get to fight him until the end), tomb robbers, anubis, beni, anck-su-namun (pronounced anac-sue-namoon), and finally imhotep.

With three types of guns (dual pistols, a shotgun and a lewis gun a.k.a an old fashioned machine gun), a torch, a machete, dynamite, amulets (throw them and they blow up), the golden sword, and if all else fails, your fists, you are well equipped for just about anything. Overall I would say this is an enjoyable game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, June 20, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Mummy (CD-ROM)
When I considered buying this game I wasn't sure whether or not to buy it because I thought the graphics might be bad and it would be cheap, as in I hit the guys a million times, then they hit me once and I die, or it would be really easy. I was wrong. Oh so very wrong. The graphics are great, you hit a guy like a maximum of like 5 times before they die, and it's very hard. You must get 6-8 star keys to go on to the next level. To get a star key you need to do a special thing, whether it's kill a swarm of mummies coming after you on all sides (That's why it's good to get caught in a corner, because they can only come at you from one side), finish a surfing section, or find some trap doors.

There are tons of different mummies. Some have shields, some have bows and arrows, and some just attack with their fists. You also must face ex-friend Bennie, Imhotep, and Anck-su-namun. There are also Anubis warriors, and Tomb Robbers.

The guns are very good, too. You start off with revolvers, a torch (I call it a candlestick because it is so bad),your fists, and once you collect four treasures you get a magic amulit, that explodes when it hits the ground. You get the Machete (Sword) once you finish the first level, you get the dynamite on the second level (they're pickups), and you get the shotgun once you finish the forth level. I haven't gotten the Lewis Gun yet. I prefer the machete until you get to the swordsman mummy, then I use the revolvers because by then I have a lot of ammunition.

I think it's the best game on the market today, definitely the best shoot-em-up game. A must buy for all action gamers.

5.0 out of 5 stars ROCKIN'!, July 17, 2001

This is one of the best games I've ever played, probably one of the best games on the market. The graphics are pretty good, but the people do look kind of funny. The sound effects are great. You get so caught up in playing this game that you actually feel like you really are Rick O'Connell and this really is life-or-death. You get all these great weapons to use. I prefer playing with a friend (one person does the walking, the other the shooting) so you don't have to think as much. It takes pretty good coordination to mow down mummies and get out of their way at the same time. But this game is really fun. I recommend this to everyone who's "just looking for a good time".
