More Fun Than You Think,

The wacky humor (Broco-Lee), varied level designs (underwater, pastry factory, space station, etc.), a cardboard cut out look and odd concept (Come on, what other game has you saving the world by eating evil vegetables while collecting magical poo?) of The Munchables add up to one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in some time.
This is classic 3D platforming done in a way to appeal to gamers as young as 5 or as old as time. Yes the control is simple and more experienced gamers won't be exceptionally challenged by the gameplay but few other games will get you laughing or feeling as good as The Munchables does. The biggest challenge comes from figuring out how to beat some of the bosses which can take some trial and error. In the main game you earn bonus items to decorate your character with (3D glasses, pirate hats, etc.) by collecting acorns. Once the game is beaten, you earn a radar upgrade that points out acorns you missed on your first go round. This is a feature more platform games should incorporate. Another feature that opens once the main story has been completed is Mirror Mode which has you go through each level in reverse under a time constraint which is actually pretty tough to complete in later levels. Bottom line, don't dismiss The Munchables. It may look easy and childish (perhaps it even is), but by not playing The Munchables you miss out on a uniquely fun experience that you'll remember long after the controller is put down.

We rented this Wii game and within a few minutes, my 5-yr old daughter was having so much fun, we knew we had to buy it. You can pick your character, and as you munch on moving veggies and other things, your character gets bigger and bigger. The music is hip too. It's good fun, and I highly recommend it to anyone with kids.

The Wii has a vast library, and this is something we can all agree on. It has an insane amount of games out for it already, and even more that are coming out. Many of these are original titles, and this is both a good and bad thing. Not all of these titles are quality, some of them are the dreaded shovelware we've grown to both love and hate. I happen to enjoy lots of the shovelware on the system, as it provides cheap thrills to me. But I'm pleased to say that The Munchables, which came out in late May of this year, is most definitely NOT shovelware in the slightest. It's a very fun, original platforming game, and I implore each and every one of you to check this fire out.
You play as one of two characters, a male or female Munchable. I chose Chompy, the male you find residing on the cover in the glorious red. There are 8 worlds in the game, with 3 stages in each world. 2 regular stages, and then a boss stage. In each stage, you go around eating everything you see. You move with the joystick on the Nunchuck, and you move the Wiimote up to jump. You tap A to eat, and B to attack. You just keep eating all the Aliens and some of the environment to gain levels. The higher level you are, the faster you move, bigger you get, and more you can eat. Some enemies, Aliens is what the game calls them, are much bigger than you and have their level above their head. You will not be able to eat them in their current form. You'll need to break them down and eat up the pieces. For example, you are level 32 but your enemy is level 50. You will need to attack him, and knock him into 4 level 30's, and then eat them individually. Doing this usually gets you leveled up fast. Sometimes, the enemy will be dozens of levels above you, so after breaking him into lots of pieces, you will need to break THOSE pieces into even more pieces, and eat them very fast, before they come back together. You also better dodge their attacks or risk getting hit. Once hit, you shrink and must shake the Wiimote to get bigger again. But don't worry, you usually won't die once you are shrunk, just make sure to shake fast. In fact, I only died twice while playing the entire game. In each level, you usually have a simple goal. Eat all of these things, or make it to the end of the level. Very simple. You never get lost, the game is designed in such a way that you will always know what you are doing. The level design is wonderful, and the colors are very vibrant and colorful. A very pleasing and pretty game to look at. In each level, there are Acorns you can collect for bonus prizes, which are just accessories you can add to your Munchable to customize him or her to your liking. Although it may seem aggravating at first that you are collecting these things, the levels are designed so well that for the most part, you really won't have any problem finding all of them. And if you do, once you beat the game there is an Acorn Radar that gets unlocked, so no worries there. The environments are diverse, from a regular outside level, to a nice undersea world, a haunted house, a spaceship, and even the clouds in the sky. The levels are very entertaining to say the least. The music is great. You won't get annoyed by any of it. In fact, the boss battle theme is just plain bad ass. It makes you feel so cool as you battle these huge monsters, such as Broco-Lee, (that's his name), a big chocolate bar, and other various big food items. The boss theme is so good. Its got this sound in it of a guy going OH OH OH and it just makes you ready to take on the world. You'll love it, trust me. Earlier I mentioned that you level up as you play. Well, your levels don't stay the same. As you move on to a new world, you will start at level 1 again, but that's not a bad thing, because in no time you will be eating up all the aliens and getting back into the hundreds like you were before. The game also has a Mirror Mode to play through once you finish it. It took me around 6 hours to beat the game, but I did not collect every Acorn. Going back and collecting them, as well as Mirror Mode, adds a lot of replay value to this. Its already dropped down to $20, and at that price its unbeatable. The game is one of my favorites on the Wii, and I suggest you all pick it up.

Words can't describe how much fun this actually was. It left me wanting more. You play as this little leg and armless creature called munchables that eat just about anything. These food like creatures called pirates come from out of space and try to take over the world. Yeah the story isn't much, but we're not here for story, we're here to munch, crunch, and bite our way through an extremely addicting game. The controls are simple. Use a to bite, b to attack roll, the nunchuck to move, and jerk the wiimote up to jump. The controls are perfect and easy to handle. Some enemies require you to eat a certain amount of food or attack to break them into smaller creatures in order to eat them. As you eat you grow bigger and stronger and after a levels complete you earn a ranking depending on how much you've eaten and grown. From what I've been told the game is similar to Katamari Demashi (another game I always wanted to play). The replayability of the game is actually pretty low. If you finish a level with an S rank, finish mirror levels in sufficiant time, or collect all acorns in a level you get a prize. The prizes are actually unimpressive and are just for show. It would have been nice to play as more munchables than the ones you're given. The 3 munchable you play as actually play the same and theres really no difference in strengh. The mirror levels are basically the normal level turned backwards and you're timed. The music is fabulous! One track in particular is somewhat of an easter egg. You'll know what I mean when you get to it. Lets just say it involves a popular mario character. Each level is unique. My favorites were the factory and space ship. There are also bosses in this game that take some strategy to complete, but aren't really too hard to figure out. Even though its a easy game Munchables is very addicting. Its easy for kids to pick up and play. Due to its low replayability and easy difficulty I recommend adults without kids rent it first and if you like it enough buy it. If you have children its definately worth a buy.

My 4 year old son has really enjoyed playing this game. It has been attitude changing for him to even talk about "eating" vegetables in a positive light. It is also nice for Mom to play after a stressful day of work. Sort of a "veg" out and have fun game. Each level gets harder and a little more aggressive but it is fun every step of the way.

I bought this game for my 4 year old and he loves it! It is easy for him to play on his own and he never gets bored with it. It's fun for adults too! I wish the two player was set up a little differently, but that is my only complaint. Great game for kids of any age!

Better than I thought!,

This game is so much better than I thought it would be, I'm amazed. Me and my sisters have been playing this game nonstop since Christmas, and it's fun enough to maintain your interest. The characters are cute, and the music is awesome. I also think mirror mode was a very nice addition to the game.
However, there is one thing that I hold against this game. This game has NO multiplayer mode, which I thought was very disappointing. This game would have been perfect for multiplayer. A second player can assist you by using a second Wii remote, but that causes you to lose points, so I would not reccomend doing that. But besides that, this is a wonderful game for children and adults alike. It's not challenging, but not too easy.

I've never been a huge gamer, but I do like to play Wii with my 6-year-old son from time to time. For Christmas I got him this game and a few others. We have had an absolute blast playing this game together. The second player doesn't do too much but help a little bit, so we took turns, especially if we got to a frustrating part. This is the first game I have ever played all the way to the end and we have been enjoying mirror mode as well. The other reviewers did an excellent job explaining the game. I love its quirkiness, great music, the fact that it isn't so hard that it is too frustrating and and not so easy that it loses its appeal quickly. There is a good balance between ease and challenge, especially for an inexperienced gamer like me. I thought it was kind of like 3-D pac man with veggies. Tons of fun for the fam!

I was hooked on this game after the first level. You are either a cute pink puff munchable or a tough scaly munchable (or a robot one after you beat the game ;) as you go through 8 different worlds (2 stages and a boss for each) completing certain tasks like getting to the end, eating all of a certain boss, and more. There are so many different food enemies to eat (150 with little bios to read ^-^). The gameplay is just so imaginative, you eat like crazy and get to huge sizes. If you arent big enough to eat your opponent, you smack into them to break them up and then eat them. I wish there were more levels, it just went by so fast! The story and the way it presents it is ok for this sort of game and the music is great and catchy for each level. I love how you can customize your munchable with a little accesory if your good at collecting all the acorns on each level. The Munchables is definately worth it, I really hope there will be a sequel!
