4.0 out of 5 stars Munchausen: DSM IV diagnosis, November 15, 2010

This review is from: Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome: Misunderstood Child Abuse (Paperback)
Just for the record, Munchausen by Proxy is most definitely a diagnosable mental health disorder. In the DSM IV it's known as Factitious Disorder (DSM IV code:300.19).
A similar condition known as "Angel of Death" or "Angel of Mercy" syndrome has been reported and medical professionals with symptomotology fitting this disorder have been tried and convicted after creating illness and even causing death to their patients. Some of the better known medical cases were: Richard Angelo, Harold Shipman and Jane Toppan.
