5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product!!
This is one of those "why didn't I think of it" ideas. Let me preface this with the fact that I have been a mom for 16 years. I have been taking snacks on the go and just dealing with the mess for a long time. I've tried baggies, tupperware and most recently those little snack cups with the wedges cut out. With the snack cups, the first day I handed it to my 13 months...

3.0 out of 5 stars Snack trap vs Munchie Mug

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product!!, April 9, 2010

This is one of those "why didn't I think of it" ideas. Let me preface this with the fact that I have been a mom for 16 years. I have been taking snacks on the go and just dealing with the mess for a long time. I've tried baggies, tupperware and most recently those little snack cups with the wedges cut out. With the snack cups, the first day I handed it to my 13 months old, he pushed down on one of the wedges and shook all the food out! I stumbled on the munchie mug on amazon. I balked at the price then thought, if it really works, it's worth it!

I got ours in the mail yesterday and immediately washed it and filled it with Chex. Handed it to my toddler and sent him off. I was amazed that it was super easy for him to get his hand in and out and he didn't spill ANY of his snack!! Later in the day, I brought it with us in the car and let him have some snack. No spills! Not that spilled cheerios are so hard to pick up but as a mom, it is wonderful to know that I don't have chase him around picking up all the spilled food.

The only cons I have is the size and the cost. I do think that $16 for a snack cup is too much. Maybe if these become more popular the law of supply and demand will allow for a reduction in cost. Second, it is rather large. It takes up a lot of space in the diaper bag. It would be nice to have a smaller size. That being said, I absolutely recommend this to any parents of toddlers. It's easy to use, can't be accidentally opened, prevents spills, and allows for a little independence for your little one.

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS TIP for this product!!!! SO HELPFUL!!!!, February 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Munchie Mug - Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. - BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. - Blue Top (Baby Product)
This is the BEST snack cup I've ever owned, and I have a GREAT tip!!!! There is a brand of gelato sold in the grocery stores by the name of Talenti, and that container is exactly the same size as the container on the Munchie Mug!!! So, you can use those containers if your cup breaks (which mine never did) or you can have multiple snacks and just unscrew that cap and screw the Munchie Mug cap on! Then when they're done, just screw the gelato cap back on and stick it back in the pantry! Added bonus: The cup is very nice looking, and gelato is TO DIE FOR!!!! The gelato cups are NOT dishwasher safe, however! I hope this helps!!! Enjoy! :)

This review is from: Munchie Mug - Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. - BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. - Blue Top (Baby Product)
I have a 15 month old,and bought the munchie mug based on the rave reviews of a friend, and the amazon reviews. Sure, it's a little expensive, but the quality of the mug is fine, and it works as advertised- and does indeed prevent spills.

Here are my complaints about it:

1) it's big. Not a deal breaker but it doesn't conveniently pop into a diaper bag or stroller caddy.
2) It isn't remotely airtight. It doesn't claim to be, but there is simply no way to seal it off, apart from putting the whole thing in a large ziplog. While it's good for filling and immediately eating out of, I can't fill it and leave it in a bag until needed, or I get a handful of stale cheerios (I live in a humid area). Ultimately, this is why I had to shelf the munchie mug. You pretty much need to fill and feed immediately, storing food for more than a few hours in this is out of the question.

So I went out and bought a Made For Mom Snack Trap, 2 Pack, Gender Neutral with a lid.

Pros: small, lightweight. You can purchase a lid (and I recommend you do-it doesn't always come with one.) Easy for kids to carry, and fits well in a diaper bag. This one gets daily use in my house, as we can keep it filled with goldfish or cereal at all times.

Cons: kind of flimsy, and the munchie mug's fabric top DOES do a better job of keeping things in.

Overall, for this type of product, I'm throwing my vote to the snack trap, despite not being PERFECT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, May 21, 2009
This review is from: Munchie Mug - Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. - BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. - Blue Top (Baby Product)
We haven't used it a whole lot, but it seems to work great. I love the holes on the side of the lid. It is easy to hold. It works better than the other snack trap cup we had where my daughter learned to take the lid off and could still push the middle of the lid in and spill everything. I really like this cup

5.0 out of 5 stars Best children's item ever! Bought a second for our second child., February 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our family loves our "munchies." We bought one 2.5 years ago when our youngest was 6 months and she still uses the same one. We bought another one for our second child, when she was 9 months. We can't leave the house without it! The Munchie Mugs are very durable, have survived many tosses from the stroller and shopping cart, and the best part - I don't have to clean up all the crumb left behind from snacks! Easy to wash and the lid hasn't gotten loose from years of daily use. There is nothing about the Munchie Mug that I don't like!

I wanted to wait at least 6 months to give this product a review and so far it's been a useful and wonderful product.

Pro's
- generously sized
- stretchy fabric dries quickly
- durable (it has been dropped, banged, tossed, etc.)
- comes with a clear lid to keep snacks fresh (you have to unscrew the normal lid with the fabric to use the clear lid)
- holes on the side of the lid allow for easy gripping and securing to a stroller with some type of clip (I use the Boogin grip)
- comes in gender neutral color
- BPA free!
- Made in the USA

Con's
- price

5.0 out of 5 stars The best spillproof snack cup!, September 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Munchie Mug - Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. - BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. - Blue Top (Baby Product)
This is the absolute best snack cup we have ever used. The tight fabric pulls any loose snacks out of my son's grip so he only pulls out what he can fit in his hand. This won't stop him from throwing the snacks he just pulled out of the cup and making a mess, but there is no cup that can prevent that from happening. He has thrown this thing down stairs and across rooms and not a single snack has been spilled. The only negatives are that the price is a bit steep for a snack cup, and it is bigger than all of the other cups that we have seen. Neither one of those points warrant taking away a star, in my opinion. We love this thing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Long time user, love them, August 16, 2010

This review is from: Munchie Mug - Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. - BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. - Blue Top (Baby Product)
I give this 4 stars because I absolutely love them and I think that it cuts down on the mess with ALL kids but I took a star off for the price and that it may not work as well for some ages and certain personality traits than others.

I have had 2 mugs for about 2 years now (someone said theirs broke right away...I totally doubt that). My mother-in-law bought them at a baby expo. They are fabulous! They are a bit bulky but it holds a lot of snacks. It is great for longer outings so I don't have to keep refilling them. Because they are so big, the handles at the top of the cup work out great to hold. I also love the fact that if they are dropped, all the snacks stay in the cup! My kids always spilled when their snack cups were open then most of the snacks spilled out too.

The cons are that it may not be ideal for all ages or personalities but I still think that it cuts down on the mess, no matter what child. When we got the mugs I had a 1 year old and a 2 and a half year old. My oldest was fine from the start with it and it was perfect for her. My one year old was at a phase where she liked to empty things and throw things on the floor, so if she was done eating, she would usually empty it out handful by handful onto the floor. She is now past that stage and it works great. I have an 10 month old right now and she will grab a handful and then try and shove all of her handful of snacks in her mouth and drop some. It still cuts down on the mess if they perhaps drop the cup. The biggest con is the price. I would really like to have 2 cups per child in case I want to wash them. I have found that most of my car spills happen while the mugs are being washed and I have to use bags or other cups. I would also love to buy them as gifts but at this price the person would only probably get a cup and that doesn't seem like much. At this price though I think I will just get one more for my youngest and will have to wait until the demand goes up. Someone mentioned they look homemade and yes, the do LOOK a little homemade but no matter how much I try, I can't think of how I could make that quality of a product at home. If you think of a way, let me know so I can save my $16, otherwise I guess I will just have to buy this product online.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Snack Cup Ever!, November 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this about 2 months ago for my then 10 month old. It took her about a good week to figure out how to use the mug. It's great because she can not spill it no matter what she does. I clean it in my dishwasher with no issues. A friend of mine had bought a different cup for her daughter (supposedly spill proof sold by One Step Ahead) but she managed to spill it. She would put her hand in the cup and then raise her hand in the air so all of the snack would "rain" down on her :). That doesn't happen with this mug!

5.0 out of 5 stars best snack cup I've found, October 18, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This cup is great! I've tried the other brands, and liked them...at first. The lids on the others are more prone to spills because of their "cut-out" design as opposed to the fabric of this cup. I was ok with this until I realized I needed a different top -- The screw top on this mug is exactly what I was looking for (and how I found this cup)! My son learned how to bite the top off of the other brand cups with his mouth and would spill his snacks everywhere. This screw top prevents that -- I was so excited to find this design! My only thing is the size -- this cup is considerably larger than other snack cups (which might be why it's called a "mug"!?!). But, my son is 13 months old and has no problem with the size. I think the recommendation for age 10 months is perfect and suitable for this cup. And even though the cup holds a lot, clearly you don't have to fill it all the way. I would recommend this product to all of my friends!
