5.0 out of 5 stars A real Shame, September 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Munchies (DVD)
Its shameful that these sellers are selling the DVD for 50 bucks(that's the least amount).

DON'T BUY IT FOR THAT PRICE. As much as i love this movie, its worth 30 bucks the most if you're a fan. If not, or if you never saw it, its worth between 2-5 bucks and no more.

I love this movie. i use to watch it dozens of times as a kid. Its not a well made movie. If it wasn't for nostalghia, it might not have an audience.

I still own this on VHS and would gladly buy the DVD. But I'm not a sucker and no one should pay these prices for it. It's disgusting.

4.0 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure., July 9, 2006

This review is from: Munchies (DVD)
This film is a pure guilty pleasure of mine. When I was a kid I loved this movie. One day I was browsing a movie store and found this lost gem for 7 bucks. Needless to say I snatch that little beggar up. Heck I would have spent 15 dollars to recapture a little of my childhood. Amazingly enough I still laughed at some of same parts I did when I was a kid. The characters are just way over the top and very cartoon like, especially Dude, the deadhead. This movie like many of its genre shows everything bad about the 80s, which is one thing I enjoy about films such as these.

This film came out during the same decade that brought us other movies with little killer monsters such as Gremlins, Ghoulies I and II, Puppet Master, and Critters I and II. Granted, Munchies are much tamer movie than those other films, but it has to be the funniest out of the bunch. If you weren't a kid during the 80s you might ask yourself why the heck do some people like this film? Well I guess you just had to be there.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Biting Good Time!, May 23, 2011
This review is from: Munchies (DVD)
Apparently, there are a lot of people that don't like the horror-comedy Munchies, what with it only having a 3.3 on imdb.com. And I just don't understand why. I think it's funnier than both Gremlins and Critters, with campy and over-the-top performances by Harvey Korman and Alix Elias. If you ever get the munchies for a dumb but fun horror-comedy, then this flick should do the trick!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brings backs memories...., September 3, 2005
This review is from: Munchies (DVD)
I remembered this movie from when I was in High School.. and watching... yes I admit it... it was a corny off beat comedy.. but then again what 80s comedy was not like that... thats what made them so good.. they just don't make them like they used to... but most of the public have turned into a bunch of politically correct amoebas..who are "harmed or offended" by today videos games, something that was said in a movie, etc.. Many of the people today who give these movies bad reviews were not even a twinkle in their pops eyes around during the time of the original release!! There were alot of good movies during the 80s that have been long sense overlooked and forgotten such as: Up the Creek, Up the Academy, Runaway, Mr Mom, etc... all these were movies I watched and loved during my life as a teenager...

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Stupid!!!!!!!!, March 9, 2004
By
This review is from: Munchies (DVD)
I grew up catching this film on late night HBO more than I care to remember. I'm 24 now and I'm buyin' it! This is so friggin' stupid it's funny. And Harvey Corman's in it. And that chick from the "burbs" and the hologram guy from "star trek" I think they were ice cream vendors if I remember right. Later in March I'll find out. I've been waiting years for the guys that did this to redistribute. It's about time. I have to say it's better than Ghoulies. I liked when they get chopped up and regenerate! It's great! Pure old school!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest film In The History Of American Cinema, April 5, 2004

This piece affected me in the most profound way. Every film I've made since seeing this at the tender age of 7 has been influenced in every which way by Munchies. By the way, my name is M. Night Shyamalan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, Is This Guy Perry Mason or What?!, June 2, 2004

I can't believe that guy figured out I'm not the real M. Night Shyamalan. I did, however, direct "The Sixth Sence" a movie about a couple of college students who travel about Japan looking for the perfect Japanese "Sence" Disco house. When they arrive at the sixth one that night, they all flip out upon realizing that it's filled with clones of Martin Short. IN the end, there's a bloodbath when Rip Taylor arrives in Nagasaka witha barrel of hydrochloric acid and douses the clones. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
