Best add on pack yet!,
By Valerie Frankel "author of From Girl to Godde... (San Jose, California) - See all my reviews

This add-on definitely improves the original Munchkin! It contains sidekicks like an elf sidekick and dwarf sidekick who can use race-specific items and take some devices off your hands (literally!). It also has modifiers like High and Dark (high elf, dark wizard...) which can be used ALONG WITH race cards (dark characters gain a level when bad stuff happens to other characters, which adds a fun dimension). The other notable addition is the steeds, "items" which you can ride for as much as a +5 bonus with the all-powerful Dragon Steed. There's the perpetually terrified Chicken Steed, 9-Lived Tiger Steed, Giant Mutant Gerbil, and plenty of others. Plus, all the cards have that brilliant Munchkin humor. Since this repairs the race and hand restrictions in original Munchkin, I'd definitely suggest getting this one, even if it's the only add-on pack you collect!

Munchkin is an awesome game. The original set is great fun by itself. Whacky, irreverent, fast-paced, did I mention awesome? You need Munchkin.
But if you buy Munchkin, you ought to seriously consider buying Munchkin 4: The Need for Steed. Why, you ask? Because unlike the first two expansions (2 & 3), Munchkin 4 introduces two new aspects to the game: Hirelings and Steeds. Hirelings are similar to NPCs in traditional role-playing games. Your buddies who fight alongside you that are not controlled by another player. Steeds are, well, animals you ride. (But you knew that already, what, I'm a dictionary?) Both basically give you more bonuses to your character, to increase your combat strength and your overall satisfaction with the game, life, the universe, and everything. (Wait, slipping into a Doug Adams review now. Sorry.) Munchkin 4 also has a lot of new cards. More is better. Munchkin is awesome. That is all.

If you've never played Munchkin before then you are missing one amazing game! It's tons of fun. Like a role playing card game packed with weirdness and humor. It's great for parties or if you've been waiting for a good game for your weekly game night with friends. Great for those of us with slightly dark and wacky senses of humor. This is fantastic if you love the original. Tons of great steeds and Minions!! The Mutant Gerbil is my favorite!
