The Sponge At The End Of The Bristles Tears Quickly,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
It's a simple useful brush but the pink sponge like material at the end of the brush starts to tear and break up. We used the brush for a month and already we had to rip the sponge part off since it was breaking off into tiny pieces. Just use a simple all bristle brush to clean your babies bottles, do not buy this.

The Best Bottle Brush for the Money,
By Available in different colors. It has a screw-in nipple brush inside the handle. Pros: -The biggest plus about this brush is that the foam on the tip is strong and durable. It has a rougher texture than ordinary foams. -Value wise, I am very happy with this product. Available at some popular local stores around 2$ -Very simple design -Good handle grip

Works Great,
By
This review is from: Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
I've used this product for two months and it has been great. I use Medela bottles. My bottles come out very clean, and the nipples shine like new! The sponge on this one is very sturdy, but I've seen other brands with the same design with flimsy sponges, so be careful there.
The nipple brush is starting to rust just a tiny bit, but it's been a couple months and it doesn't breathe in the handle very well even with the small vents. I place my brush angled in a holder over the sink to dry; maybe if you dry the nipple brush separate it will do even better. It's becoming time to get another brush and I will happily get another one of these. For a few dollars it is a great value because it works fast and wonderfully.

Best I've tried,

This brush works very well with the Dr Brown's standard bottles. The handle on the big brush is comfortable and the mini brush cleans the nipples well. (You have to air dry them separately.) It lasts approx 2-3 months before the sponge starts to fall apart, but it's probably not sanitary to use a brush for longer than that anyway.

handle broke on 3rd use...garbage!,

Don't waste your money, the part of the handle where plastic meets wire separated permanently on 3rd use.The assembly of the parts is cheap. The wire is crammed into the plastic, only about a 1/4 inch and has no proper threads to hold it in place. A few twists inside the bottle and it was in two pieces. It's junk!

Sponge tears easily,
This review is from: Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
This brush does the job of cleaning bottles and nipples. The small nipple brush works great. However, the sponge tears easily. The sponge cannot withstand repeated everyday use. Mine started to tear by week 2. By week 4, only parts of the sponge remain. My previous brush was the Dr. Brown brand. The sponge on that brush lasted much longer. I will go back to that brand.
All in all, the Munchkin brand works. It just doesn't last long enough for me.

Breaks easily,
This review is from: Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
I like the brush in general but after a few uses, the part where the handle connects to the wire shaft starts to bend and break.

nipple brush is too thick but otherwise good,

Use this all the time to clean a variety of different sized bottles and nipples. Has a nice big sponge on the bottom and soft (nylon?) bristles on both the bottle and nipple brush. My main complaint is that the wire base of the nipple brush is so wide that it barely fits into the nipples. Also with the wire I'm afraid I'm going to scratch and wear down the nipple by scraping around in there with this. If the nipple brush were more narrow with more bristles it would be better. Also they make one with a suction cup base now which is better than having your nice clean brush touch the bottom of your dirty sink. We have a regular dish washing brush that has a suction cup bottom and it is great.
Love that it comes in fun colors, has a big comfortable handle also.

Brushes are disposable, and this is a great one.,

Bottle brushes, like most dish sponges, shouldn't be used for more than 30 - 45 days because of the risk of bacteria growth -- so they are disposable items. I've tried several brushes, and this one really works the best for us.
We use Playtex Ventaire Standard bottles. The sponge and brush fit inside the bottles very well and are great for cleaning the nipple rings and the two bottom pieces (the silicone vent and the plastic bottom). The nipple brush is the perfect size for the Playtex Ventaire standard nipples but is a bit too big for Dr. Browns (had to switch because we can't seem to find the medium Playtex nipples). It still works, but you may have to tug a bit to get it out of the tip of the Dr. Browns nipple. As other reviewers have mentioned, the nipple brush will rust. I find that they tend to rust somewhere around day 30 or so. If you reinsert the nipple brush into the handle of the bottle brush while it is wet it will rust a lot sooner. I use a small square bin to corral the dirty bottle parts; when the parts have been washed, I rinse it out and put the brushes in it to dry. No rust unless I go over 30 days before replacing it. Since the store that begins with a 'W' sells these for around $2, I am happy to just replace them every month. Unlike the OXO brushes, the wire is nice and thick so it won't break.

Not so great for expressed milk bottles,
This review is from: Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
This brush seems to do a fairly decent job of cleaning our formula bottles. However, it is just about worthless for cleaning bottles used to feed our daughter momma's milk. (After the first month or two, breast milk content begins to contain more fats/oils in order to be more filling for a growing baby. The downside is bottles can develop a disgusting film if not handled properly.) The bristles on the side are too thin to effectively clean and the foam tip is too awkward to use on the sides of the bottles.
Personally, I don't mind that they break so quickly. I wouldn't want to keep a sponge item around longer than a month anyway. I do, however, mind that the nipple brush portion starts to rust within about a week of use. We alaways thoroughly rinse the brushes and let them air dry separately. |
