I bought this for my 13 month old son who loves the water - the fountain has some great height to it so I recommend that it be for outside. The first one I bought the on/off switch didn't work so I took it back and exchanged it. Got the second one and it worked for the first 30 minutes or so then the on/off switch wouldn't work and the batteries ended up just running out. Don't waste your money on this

I have been through 3 of the Munchkin Star Fountain. I bought the first at Target. After a couple of uses the on/off switch would not stay depressed. After finally getting it to depress, it stuck in the on position indefinitely. I then exchanged it at Target for my second Munchkin Star Fountain, only for the second product to do have the exact same issue within the first use. I contacted Munchkin and they stated not having any issue with the on/off switch and offering to replace the product. The CSR explained to me that any further issue they would only give me a coupon for another product, not a full refund. While I have not purchased this on amazon.com, I am making a point to inform all consumers until CPSC has placed this product on a safety list. Do NOT buy this product here or anywhere. 3 for 3 had the same issue and Munchkin is aware and continues to sell the product.

This worked for one bath time and the next day it was completely dead. Replacing the batteries was a pain and only resulted in a blinking light and no 'fountain' feature.

Seems that another reviewer had an issue with dead star fountains as well.

and now the new one not only doesn't work properly but it won't turn off

Not only was it ridiculous to get the backing off with a screwdriver (the screws acted stripped), but the fountain wouldn't even work! What a rip off -- great idea that I hope they get to work, but needs improvement!

I really liked the idea behind this with lights and fountain show in the bath. Uh, in reality, not so much! The only show my daughter got was me fighting with this dang thing. First of all, the screws in the back are ridiculously small and impossible to get off. It's not only the size but actually that you have work with gravity to try to get the loose screws and battery compartment lid off. I gave up after the first few hours, returned to it again another day, and again another day, and finally got it open like a month later, for real. When I finally got it open, imagine my delight that it didn't work AT ALL! Nothing! No lights! No fountain. It was a complete dud. I contacted the company and they wanted me to give them the product number. Of course, at that point, this toy was buriend in a giant toy box. I finally found it again and will get in touch with Munchkin but save yourself the money, trouble and call to customer service. Don't buy.

This product is terrible. You have to change the batteries every 10-14 days and it stopped working entirely after only 2 months of use. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Got this as a gift for my 1 1/2 yr old and almost 4 yr old and they LOVE it!! Heck, I LOVE IT!! It is such a neat toy!!

My 1 year old loves this toy but getting the back off to put in the three batteries nearly stripped the screws. Very unfriendly design for getting the batteries in but the toy works as advertised and my kid loves the lights and the fountain action. She likes to pick it up out of the water and then put it back to see it go on and off. Yes, it squirts her in the face but she's not daunted by that and maybe this is a good way to get a kid used to water getting in their face.

I puchased this product at Wal-Mart and during the very first use it stopped working. The on/off switch is now in the on position and will not pop back to the off position. It is a cute idea, but the product does not work. Do not waste your money on this.
