I bought this bottle warmer after having done 20 hour round trip road trip. I had assessed the pros and cons of the two types of bottle warmers out there and found this one to have the best of both worlds. The "traditional" type of travel bottle warmer is set up similar to this one, however, the biggest peeve of parents was that the warmer had a fail-safe button on the bottom of the warmer and if the bottle did not contact this button continuously the warmer shut off. The other type was the "beer bottle cozy," which looks exactly like a beer cozy, but had, from what I read, a very limited life. This warmer had the heating band of the traditional bottle warmer with a flexible wraparound design of the bottle cozies. This makes is more durable than the cozy type bottle warmers. It replaced the fail-safe button with a fail-safe timer. Instead of having the button you select the amount of time you want the bottle to heat for (up to 30 minutes), if no time is selected the bottle warmer defaults to 5 minutes. Though a bottle made with chill water usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes to warm. This is not a plug in a three minutes later you have a warm bottle warmer. Some planning is required (i.e. if you have a newborn they eat about every two hours so after about an hour and a half start warming the bottle). This is a great bottle warmer that worked very well for us on our trip.

The product is well manufactured and seems solid, well constructed and safe. It works fine but you should understand that heating with car electricity and with something portable and safe has its limitations. Mainly, it takes time! A 5oz bottle will take about 20 minutes from ambient temperature to reach adequate temperature. It will take more if the milk is cold, such as if it has been refrigerated.

Many people complain about the time it takes to heat, not only for this but for car bottle heaters in general. You must understand that making it more "powerful" implies generating much heat that could be unsafe for something that it is not meant to be fixed intalled (such as in a kitchen) but to be used inside a car and hand manipulated. If it would be more powerful, you may drop it on the seat and start a fire!

Overall, a good product and very useful, just keep in mine as the previous reviwer mentioned that planning is needed.

I put a bottle in the warmer a bit before my son is going to need it. Be honest with yourself, you simply cannot expect a bottle warmer that is powered out of the cigarette lighter in you car to heat a bottle that fast, not without hurting something elsewhere in your car. It's a 12 volt system - that's how it was designed, not a 110 volts like in your home. I use it regularly. I start heating it up a bit before he needs it. It will last the entire day in the warmer and not go bad. You won't want to re-store it after that, but if you know he or she is going to be hungry, you cannot wait until they are screaming before you start warming the bottle up.

Hope this helps cut through some of the nonsense.

I like it have the timer control, it warmer fast too. Of course you won't expect it warmer up the bottle couple minutes. I at least give 15 to 20 mins to warmer up 4 oz of the milk.

It took about 15 min to warm up slightly cold but not refrigerated milk. It fit the bottle well since you can adjust the tightness. Yes, it can take awhile to heat up but you have to remember that it's getting it's power source from a car battery. I shook the bottle gently as it was warming up. It heated up great!

The Munchkin Travel Bottle Warmer turned out to be completely ineffective and useless for me. The first one that I bought was defective and did not even work at all. So, I exchanged it for another one. I use Playtex bottles and have never had any success in warming bottles. At first, I thought the bottles were not warming due to the bottle design. There is a little space between the plastic bottle holder and the plastic liner with milk. I tried to warm the 8 ounce Enfamil liquid formula bottle and also had no success. Some reviews cited that it takes as long as 30 minutes to warm a bottle. The bottle warmer is probably more practical for long rides or road trips. I did not expect a bottle warmer to take 30 minutes to warm a bottle and I am usually not in the car with my baby for that long. The description states, "The Travel Bottle Warmer by Munchkin warms bottles quickly and evenly while on-the-go, simply plug into your car adaptor." The description should state that the bottle warmer uses slow and steady heat.

Our bottles are too skinny...I guess. It doesn't heat them at all. Waste of my money because I never use it.
