5.0 out of 5 stars Color Esperanza... un mundo de posibilidades por delante, January 12, 2003
This review is from: Un Mundo Diferente (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good job., April 24, 2004
This review is from: Un Mundo Diferente (Audio CD)
It's almost impossible to be Latin and don't know the song "Color esperanza". A song that was aired all over Latin America and Europe.
After his 1999 hit album "Tal cual es" which included the Top 10 U.S hit "La ultima noche". Diego took two years to release "Un mundo diferente". An album with the same direction as his previuos with a mix of pop and tropical rhythms but with a more mature and confident Diego Torres.
The first single "Sueños" was a hit fallowed by the biggest hit of the album; "Color esperanza". Then came "Que no me pierda" a song that it's impossible to miss in a discotheque, with all this hits the album was nominated for an American Grammy Award in 2002.
Now in 2004, three years after its release the album is still strong and now with Diego's MTV Unplugged. Diego is going to be considerated as one of the most important singers in music industry.
My favorite songs on this cd are "Color esperanza" (Hope's colour), "Conmigo siempre" (Always with me), "Sueños" (Dreams), "Que no me pierda" (Don't let myself lost), "Alegria" (Joy) and the bonous track "A traves del tiempo" (Through time).

5.0 out of 5 stars This is meaty pop that deserves more than 5 stars., August 17, 2004

I have to thank a good friend for turning me on to Diego Torres via 1999 "Tal Cual Es," and I could not believe that I had never heard of this guy as he quickly became one of my favorites. Like that release, "Un Mundo Diferente" earns 5 solid stars as it is the best of Latin pop, which combines great melody with poetry. Diego more than deserves a place on the table with the great Alejandro Sanz and Juan Luis Guerra as the best of the best.

This release came out in 2001, but I am only getting into it now as I was under whelmed when I first heard it and it went to the back of the pile. I don't know what the heck was wrong with me as this release may even be better than "Tal Cual Es," if that is possible, and I can't stop listening to it and just bought his "Unplugged" release from Amazon.com. It's hard to list highlights from this release as they are all great to me. "Color Esperanza" is a perfect example of what Diego does best, which is to turn on your mind and your body to give you a feeling that is uplifting and makes you glad to be alive no matter what you may be going through. His voice is beautiful and authentic and this release ups the ante and benefits from the Santanders (both G. and K.) with some merengue touches that further amplify an already great menu. "Quisiera" is a slow burner and is another favorite, as is "Si Tu Te Vas." I love the tango vibe on "Soy De La Gente," and I just wait until the salsa kicks in during the same song! A total treat for the ears.

Since I cannot gush so much about a release, as people may think that I am a record company executive, I have to find something that is not perfect... I am thinking.... Well there are a couple of songs towards the beginning of the release that are amazing, but it COULD be argueds that they may be a little overproduced and the choruses sound a bit cliched, but ultimately Diego and the music cannot be denied EVEN if one tries to deconstruct the points that I just highlighted to try and show some degree of objectivity. For those who are interested in packaging, the inserts are great with the non-stereotypical outdoor photography, and include all the lyrics

This guy is getting to be huge in Latin America and Europe, but has yet to reach a critical mass here in the United States. One listen to this CD and you may find yourself having a new favorite singer. Spanish speakers (native and non-native) will hear lyrics that are not your run boy meets girl songs, and those who don't speak Spanish will likely succumb to the rhythms (both slow and tropical) of a man who I hope continues to sell enough records to keep us entertained for many years to come. I am listening to this release right now for the third time today and decided that I needed to share the wealth as you guys have turned me on to some great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and optimistic..., April 29, 2004

I got this CD on my visit to Buenos Aires last year. His first single "Color Esperanza" was the new national anthem because of its hopeful, optimistic lyrics and upbeat tempo. But this is not a one-song album, as soon as I finished listening to the whole CD I played it again... and again.
This album brings together the diversity of latin american sound and the complexity of human feelings, from political statements to love songs. It's got it all! I definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of all-time favorite CDs!, January 3, 2004

When I first heard this CD, I was stunned. After only listening to this CD just once, I immediately classified it as one of my current all-time favorites in my CD collection.

DIEGO TORRES does not sing or sound like Juanes or Ricky Martin. Instead, he has his own distinctive and incredible voice and the instrument arrangements on this CD complements his smooth voice. There isn't one bad track on this CD. After listening to this CD, I became so enthralled by DIEGO TORRES that I ordered his other CDs. I'm already expecting a let down with his other CDs since I can't believe he could have released another CD that's this good.

I guess the key word to describe this CD and DIEGO TORRES' voice is "smooth."

5.0 out of 5 stars MARVELOUS- MARAVILLOSO!, November 10, 2002

This review is from: Un Mundo Diferente (Audio CD)
This new CD from Diego Torres is just filled with great songs and modern latin rhythms. Personally, one of his best. This album is upbeat, simple, yet rythmic enough to have you listening to it over and over again. Very danceable (your usual latin party music) and transmitting at the same time positive lyrics and hope to the audience, not found in many artists today. This is not your usual mainstream pop music like Enrique Iglesias or Ricky Martin, although each has their style which they accentuate well. Excellent timing for his fellow argentineans and the world really, who need positive things these days. Most of his songs are very good, and especially the now popular 'Sueños' and 'Color Esperanza' which are awesome tracks.

I definitely recommend buying this CD, all songs are well performed and composed.
Hope this helps.

I know this album came out a couple of years ago, but it is my favorite album of 2005. I buy probably 100 + albums per year, and this is my favorite del ano 2005. So very uplifting.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best from Diego Torres, December 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Un Mundo Diferente (Audio CD)
I have always liked Diego's Songs (specially) lyrics. But this one is over the top! Every song has a very powerful message and "Color Esperanza" is headed to become a Anthem for thos of us who once in a while are pesimistic about life. In my Country is already being heard even in religious services... A must buy!
