Oil-Control?,
By Sara D. (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 (Misc.)
I bought this product from the Murad site, not Amazon. I was extremely skeptical because I've tried quite a few products that say they cut back on oil, prevent it, etc. I was also worried about wasting so much money on a product that might not work at all. After looking at tons and tons of reviews all over the internet, I decided to give it a try. I applied it (in sections, because like someone else said, it's a little thick and doesn't spread far) one morning before classes. Generally, by the end of my first class, oil is already obvious on my face. However, the day I used this, there was *no* sign of oil. Now... I was and still am extremely excited about this because when I say my face gets oily, I mean it. It's disgusting. But you couldn't see any shine throughout my *entire* day at school, which is unheard of for me. I've been using the product for about five days now and I'm in love with it.
On the bottle it says to apply an even coat on your entire face, but I've just been putting it on my T-Zone, since that's where I get the most oil. For the price, it seems like it will last quite a while, but I'm not *entirely* sure about that right now. Especially for those who use it every day and do put it on their entire face, it might become pretty spendy - which so far is the only drawback. I'd also like to add that it doesn't dry your face out at all. I don't know what, exactly, the science behind this product is, because it doesn't seem to suck up all the oil - which might bother some people - it just mattifies it and cuts it back *somewhat*. When I touched my nose area and between my eyes, they still felt somewhat oily, but you couldn't *see* anything. I asked my sister (she wouldn't lie to me), and then double-checked in a mirror to be sure, and there was no visible oil. I'm kind of 50/50 on this aspect. For those of us who have oily skin, it would be nice to lessen the amount of it, definitely. But on the other hand, if we use products that do dry our faces out, eventually we'll produce even more oil than usual. Which... no, thanks. All in all, I absolutely recommend this product. Tons of oil is gross and embarrassing, but I really do not have to worry about that anymore. Oh! They don't test on animals, either! I've been staying away from products that do lately, so to find something that works this excellently *and* is cruelty free is absolutely amazing, in my opinion.

My skin is super oily, I could easily start my own 'organic' brand of cooking oil. With all the positive reviews I was really hopeful that this product would work, but unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. Before I bought this product I'd go through approximately 6 oil absorbing sheets a day by the time my work day was over. Now I go through about 4. It does make a difference, but not enough to justify paying almost $40 for.

I like this product. As another person wrote "it does what it says it will do". My only caution is that it's hard to apply - it's not smooth and feels kind of like glue when you put it on your face. I have to put it on in sections since it doesn't spread well. But it *definitely* reduces the amount of oil on my skin. I have very oily face, and typically had to blot several times a day. With this product, my skin is much less shiny; it's the best product I've found for mattifying.

This is the second tube of this product I have had. The first tube lasted me a year. I got hooked when I went to a Murad free makeover at a local store and the lady put this product on me. I have a tendency to get greasy quickly over the course of my day. But this product is so effective. It's magic. I actually stopped using it so much because I got lazy, but found I didn't need it as much. I dont know if my skin chemistry just changed or if the product had something to do with it. Regardless, I will never allow myself to be without this product.

real results,

I got this as a sample from sephora. it said, murad oil control moisture/mattifier/spf. I used my sample on a whim when my regual moisturizer ran out one day, I was hesitant because of the gluey texture because I am acne prone but it turns out........... I loved it! My makeup went on smoothly, as if i had used a primer, with a matte finish, and no more shiny face. I usually have an oily face and smudgy makeup by noon but not anymore, not with this lotion. I went out and bought this product the next day. I feel like this product found me. Skin saver!

I have oily skin and my face gets really shiny during the summer. It was getting embarrassing. I looked this up and saw some really good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. It works wonders!!! I'm no longer shiny and I haven't had any skin issues with it either. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now. The consistency is a bit weird, almost like glue and smells like glue, too. But it's not too bad to apply and the smell goes away. I would definitly recommend it if you have oily skin and want to control the shine.

I have suyper oily skin and that is the main cause for my break outs. I started using this lotion and the oil on my skin has lessened considerably. I'm out in the sun and it know longer feels like im literally cooking because of all the oil on my skin. This product is great and my skin feels more cool under the sun. 5 stars.

I was a little unsure about buying this product because I have acne prone skin, but now I am a believer! This lotion keeps my face matt for hours and my skin is starting to look better and more even. I would definitely try it!

Controls oil and got rid of my acne!,

I have extremely oily and sensitive skin. No dermatologist has ever been able to give me a product that controls the oil without irritating and drying out my skin. This product is a godsend. I use it once or twice a day depending on how oily my skin gets. Not only does it control oil for hours, it cleared my acne completely. I never expected this product to do that. My skin is clear, hydrated and has a healthy amount of oil.

I have very oily skin at the age of 57 and have tried other mattifiers so far this is the best one. Although it does not rid me of oil completely, it makes it tolerable. I really like how my skin feels after washing my face at night, soft and smooth.
