I am a big fan of both Murakami and Auster, and really enjoyed the Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall . Closest thing I could find to their level of fiction.

Thank you, what are the other literal styles you like? I'm also a lot into mystery and thrillers

I hope you've read South of the Border West of the Sun by Murakami. It's his best, but no one has read it. They read all the thick ones like Kafka on the Shore and whatnot.

South of the Border, West of the Sun is also my favorite of his novels. It's more elegant and refined, not so wacky as the others. I like all his books but this is his best in my opinion. A beautiful, haunting story that has stayed with me for many years.

As for other recommendations, you might like books by Louise Erdrich. She combines a bit of surrealism with magical realism set in Native American history and modern times. Unique writing style, excellent prose!
