Book Description

April 30, 2004
Traditional mystery set in Wilmington, NC.

In Wilmington, the azaleas are blooming, the dogwoods are flowering, and the bodies are dropping faster than cherry blossoms on a windy day. But it's spring, and Ashley Wilkes, historic preservationist, is much too distracted by love to give a thought to recent homicides, until one occurs at a garden party where she's a guest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light Cozy for North Carolina Fans, October 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A pleasant mystery/romance set in Wilmington, NC during the Azalea Festival, this mystery features lots of the television and movie people who stay there because of the large production company. Quite atmospheric, with lots of Victorian architecture, Wilmington history, and I'm sure many main characters are lightly disguised members of that community. I think it would be of limited interest to readers who've never been to Wilmington, but it was quite enjoyable to me, as even after one visit to that city I could recognize places and streets quite easily. Extremely "southern" woman amateur detective was fun, and the plot had its moments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Cozy!, July 15, 2009
This review is from: Murder at the Azalea Festival (Magnolia Mysteries) (Paperback)
This is a nice cozy mystery in a series set in Wilmington, NC. I spent many summers on the NC coast (being from the NC mountains we wanted to vacation on the beach!) and was surprised that there was a series based there. A pleasant surprise. Reads like a true southern mystery & makes you want to "head on up there!" Characters are set up well, the story reads smoothly & the ending is tidy. Lots of fun & a great beach read! I'm glad Harlequin is reprinting this authers books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, June 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This novel was a delightful romp through Wilmington, NC's historic district as sleuth Ashley Wilkes, and her new partner, Joe set forth to restore "Moon Gate" a house of actress Tiffany Talliere. Tiffany and her brother, Auguste, now have the finances needed to bring the house back to it's former glory.

While beginning the restoration, Ashley and Joe learn the house was built on scandals back in the day. A guest is poisoned during an open house and Ashley is off to try and solve the crime.

The characters are enjoyable and the Author took a chance and dated the book by talking about real life stars such as John Travolta and Clay Aikens. This made the book far more fun to read.

This was a cozy to remember.
