A Travesty of Justice,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Mass Market Paperback)
If you thought the OJ Simpson case was a travesty of justice, wait until you read this! At least OJ was brought to trial. The murderer of Martha Moxley is still free. However, I can't help but think that the research and effort Mark Fuhrman put into this book has helped bring about the recent arrest of Michael Skakel. Whatever you may think of Fuhrman after the OJ Simpson trial debacle, after reading this book, you can't deny that he is an excellent detective. He explains the basic principles of crime investigation and shows how the Greenwich police botched the case. In addition, his conclusions are well thought out and detailed. I can't believe how much trouble and resistance he encountered in gathering information on this case. His reasoning is easy to follow and his conclusions, based on the facts, make you wonder why no one was arrested before now! If you have any doubts about Fuhrman's abilities as a detective, read Vincent Bugliosi's "Outrage." I hope Fuhrman will tackle the JonBenet Ramsey case....then maybe justice will be served there as well.

Fuhrman Does the Right Thing,
By
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Mass Market Paperback)
Fuhrman and Dunne revisit the unsolved murder of Martha Moxley. The fifteen year old was brutally clubbed to death, stripped and sodomized the night of October 30, 1975. Her killer was never found until retired detective, Mark Fuhrman decides to review the case.
In this riveting narrative, Fuhrman catalogues the official and unofficial obstructions he faced in attempting to get this case reopened. He retraces the events, examines evidence, and concludes that the killer is Michael Skakel, a troubled youth from one of the wealthiest families in Connecticut, and a neighbor of the Moxleys. His vindication and the closure for Martha Moxley's mother, comes with Skakel's conviction and imprisonment. Even though you know the outcome beforehand, you will enjoy the book every step of the way.

Couldn't Put It Down - The book says it all.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Mass Market Paperback)
With the recent arrest of Michael Skakel I came to Amazon to see if there was a book re the Martha Moxley murder to get more information. I found 'Murder in Greenwich' and immediately ordered it. What a book! Mark Fuhrman knows his stuff, isn't afraid to tell the truth and this book proves it. I find it interesting that the very first review of this book on 4-22-98 is from a Greenwich resident and she only gives the book 1 star and blasts Fuhrman for writing it. This just reinforces the theory of the rich and powerful of Greenwich protecting their own. To the Moxley family - my heart goes out to you. May there some day be justice. Had Martha lived she would be my age and someone who I would have liked to have had for a friend.

Its about time, isn't it Martha?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Mass Market Paperback)
After 25 years of investigating, the Greenwich Police have turned up nothing in regards to a suspect in the case of Martha Moxley. What's wrong with this picture? Mark Fuhrman has cleverly used all his experience and insight to reconstruct what happened on that fatal night in 1975 to a sweet young 15 year old girl who deserves to be redeemed by someone. Mark Fuhrmans findings as well as his dedication to the Moxley family and Martha herself is by far much more than any one of the detectives in the Greenwich Police department ever did for Martha. Considering Mr. Fuhrman had an uphill climb mostly due to the lack of cooperation from the Greenwich police and other "knowledgable sources" surrounding the murder investigation. But he clearly perservered and helped reignite attention to the case causing Connecticut to finally appoint a grand jury investigation (you're about 25 years late, fellas)! I applaud you Mr. Fuhrman, we could use many more detectives with the knowledge and dedication you have displayed. I hope you take it upon yourself in your retirement to help other families of unsolved or botched investigations to help find out what "really happened" and see that justice is served.

Another readable book by Mark Fuhrman,
By Mrs. Roy (Ruby) Mathews (Montgomery, AL (USA)) - See all my reviews

I simply consume books, and if I like the book I can read a whole book in a short period of time. I had read the Simpson book prior to Murder in Greenwich, and simply could not put it down! It was even hard to go to work. I started this book one evening about 7:00pm, went to work the next day and finished it about midnight the next night. Mark Fuhrman has a style that will keep you mesmerized. Plus, I find him very compassionate. Our system has become so political, it's a wonder that we catch and prosecute anyone. What a shame! It seems that justice would be the main objective. Both the Simpson case and the Moxley case are just a reflection of each other. Money and politics come in ahead of justice. Mark, please give us a book on the Ramsey case! Let's get the true story.I have searched the internet to send a fan letter to Mark Fuhrman. Hopefully, this review will reach him.

Holds Your Attention & Well-Researched,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Hardcover)
Say what you will about Mr. Fuhrman,he has written THE authoritative book about the Moxley case. I was thoroughly impressed with his work. As for the reviewer from Greenwich stating that Mark Fuhrman as an outsider isn't able to write about the case adequately, you're wrong! By the way, Dumas's book is titled 'Greentown', not 'Greenstown' as you mistakenly spelled it. Looks like you need to get YOUR facts straight. Typical example of the ignorant Greenwich snobs Mr. Fuhrman encountered and had to deal with while researching this book. How sad!

Look Out Ann Rule..Here Comes Mark Fuhrman!,
By Mrs. Fitz "fitzeesmrs" (MA/NH Border, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read alot of true crime stories (like Ann Rule), I grabbed this book the minute I saw it. Mark Fuhrman does a great job of investigating this murder, reviewing the facts, re-interviewing alot of the witnesses and presents an excellent hypothesis of who, how and why the murder was committed. He has a great sense of humor, dotting the book with ironic comments and even laughing off the Greenwich Police Departments attempts to stop him. I can see why they would feel threatened by an author as thorough as Mark Fuhrman. . Which isn't to say that I agree with him 100%, I think it is possible there were two people involved in killing Ms. Moxley, as they changed their stories twenty years later. But I wonder if we'll ever know the truth, a la Jon Benet Ramsey (Mark, GET on THAT case will ya?). Let's hope this book brings some justice in this otherwise mishandled case. You really have to feel badly for Ms. Moxley's family, to not know the truth after all these years. I really enjoyed Mr. Fuhrman's writing style and sardonic comments on the witnesses and others involved. For instance, an official told Fuhrman "he routinely turned down requests for interviews on this case". Fuhrman then tells how he sits down at his VCR and watched the gentleman's television interviews with Hard Copy, A Current Affair, Unsolved Mysteries and several other programs. A really good read for true crime fans. Now I'm off to read - Murder in Brentwood.

First-rate,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Hardcover)
Fuhrman does a brilliant investigative job here, and sets it down in first-rate, readable prose. I was amazed how riveting this book was. In the O.J. case, and the Moxley case, the common denominator in a murderer getting away with murder, is wealth. I'm glad Fuhrman has produced something positive out of his having being unconscionably slandered by F. Lee Baily, et. al. He's more interested in justice than most people, and I am glad he has a platform from which to pursue it. (Yes, Fuhrman was found guilty of perjury, but if you read Bugliosi's take on the situation, Fuhrman technically did not commit perjury. He got rail-roaded because of an inept Judge Ito).

Great expose on the inner workings of Greenwich,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich: Who Killed Martha Moxley? (Hardcover)
As a former Greenwich reisdent and Greenwich Police officer, I truly enjoyed this book. Furhman does a great job of exposing the inner workings of the Town, especially how anyone who tries to rock the boat is treated. The unfortunate thing is that the way major investigations were being handled in 1975 by the Greenwich Police is still the way they are handled today. That is to say, very poorly.
