The new Ellie Quicke mystery - While out collecting laurel for formidable flower arranger Mrs Dawes, feisty widow Ellie Quicke comes across a corpse without an identity. Next day, Ellie discovers Mrs Dawes badly beaten and close to death. Much to Ellie's dismay, the police think shaven-headed Neil, Mrs Dawes' grandson, is responsible, even after a third body comes to light . . . So who has lost their identity and who has gained it?

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

This is the eighth Ellie Quicke mystery from the prolific Heley. Like Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, or television's Jessica Fletcher, Ellie, a middle-aged widow, seems to keep getting mixed up in murder and mayhem. This time she has to find out whether the nephew of a friend is a killer, or a victim of mistaken identity. Meanwhile, Ellie is juggling an assortment of problems on the home front, including some unwanted attention from the local vicar. This cozy British mystery won't send chills down your spine, but it offers a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. David Pitt

5.0 out of 5 stars thank god for a decent mystery novel, June 24, 2007

I am so tired of mystery novels that disappoint. I got this one from the library and it was lovely. So nice that I hoped there were more by the same author and YES there is a whole series.

I am now reading the second book (not in historical order because I started with the most recently published). Happy days.
