About the Author

Authors Jack Gannon and Cyndi Williams Barnier have undertaken a new book series of TASK FORCE NOVELS, beginning with their first suspense/thriller book entitled "MURDER IN TWOS AND THREES". As classmates at Beaufort High School in Beaufort, South Carolina, they spent nearly every day for two school years talking about their respective desires to write and become authors. They talked about writing together, and Jack shared some of the characters he created years earlier, including TWOS AND THREES' eventual hero Mark Jason/The Spy. After high school they went their separate ways and nothing was ever written, and their paths never crossed despite both staying in the same small lowcountry coastal city. Fast-forward thirty-two years. Thanks to Facebook and a mutual friend online, the two high-school best friends reunited. One of the first questions they both asked each other was, "Whatever happened to that book you were going to write?" It's coming to you soon! Keep checking back as the publishing date nears! Jack lives in Beaufort, South Carolina. Jack spent his pre-writing career working twenty-four years in multiple positions of the Circulation Department for The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet, the premiere newspapers for Beaufort County. Cyndi now lives in Ridgeland, S.C. (Jasper County), but is originally from Beaufort. She's retired from the Beaufort County Emergency Management Division, and has a lengthy career in emergency planning, and "writing" was her forte. After retirement, she volunteered several years with the local American Red Cross. But NOW, she prefers to concentrate all her time writing novels with her very dear friend Jack (her "partner in crime") and business associate. Jack and Cyndi formed their own business, J&C Wordsmiths LLC, and have already begun work on the next two books in the TASK FORCE series, as well as other literary projects.

What does it take to turn good into evil? It takes more than happenstance.

How do you find, confirm, and stop that source of evil? It takes more than blind luck.

The plot of this Task Force Novel is a testament to how quick we are to let our guard down when killers go uncaptured and how little we know about the people who have the ability to think like a criminal in order to catch the criminal.

"Murder in Twos and Threes" does more than provide ample juxtaposition between good and evil; it blurs the line between them enough to make you question how well you know your real-life neighbors, acquaintances and co-workers. Be wary of making snap judgments about who is "normal" or "good" or "mysterious." You may be wrong, or worse...you may become the next target!

It's been years since I waited impatiently for a sequel, but I'm back in that mode again. I will snap up the next Task Force Novel as soon as it's published.

This book is the real deal, a powerhouse hardcore thriller with a story that moves and grows and morphs at lightning speed. Yet, there are passages that are so delicately wrought with surgical precision that the rise and fall and rise again of the suspenseful plot is seamless. This book evokes some kind of delicious, artful recipe of an Ian Fleming-worthy villain with the technical detail of a Patricia Cornwell novel. But the story is original, and so authentic that I felt myself falling into the world of the characters. When you finish this book and cannot shake that feeling – that “right here, right now” sensibility – of wanting to read another book by Cyndi Williams-Barnier and Jack Gannon, that’s the flagship of excellent writing.

Ok, anybody who knows me very well knows that very little interrupts my sleep....THIS BOOK DID! Just about the time it would start to bog just a tiny bit, bam, we were off in another direction. I simply kept reading and reading. I refuse to give up my copy and just ordered another as a Christmas present for my sister. Jack and Cyndi, keep writing.

I have read this genre for years. It started a little slow but might because I was reading 4 different books at one time as usual. I dropped all the rest and focused on this book. The plot is great and I am looking forward to the next sequel. This has a lot of potential.

For those of you that love a book that doesn't let you go to sleep because you don't want to put it down, check out this novel! The action never stops and the attention to detail is wonderful. I hope this is the first in a long series.

Wow! I absolutely loved reading this book! Besides the fact that I sat on the edge of my seat the whole time, I was captured by the fantastic writing. This is a great suspense and well worth the time it took me to read it. I found it very readable because the action never stopped. One scene in particular caught my attention, though, and it demonstrates the authors' great attention to detail: The scene in which Mark proposes to Jan. So many novelists have the man buy a ring, propose, and the ring fits perfectly. Ring sizes vary as greatly as dress sizes and are completely unpredictable. Instead of writing the typical proposal scene, the authors sent Mark to a jewelry store first where he described his (hopefully) future bride. Based on his description, the lady helped him select a ring and told him that it could be resized if it didn't fit. Now that's attention to detail that grabs my attention! I highly recommend this novel!

I have to admit I am not much of a reader. I always have too much going on. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened next.I found myself sitting on the edge of my beach chair. Unlike most people it's not normal for me to read at the beach. Action packed, full of suspense with lots of twists and turns. It had lots of details. I loved and hated the serial killer all at the same time. I was sorry when it came to an end. I can't wait to read what they write next. Read this book !
