4.0 out of 5 stars BERTINELLI ASSOLUTA, November 6, 2007

Nothing in her previous work prepared me for Valerie Bertinelli's
extraordinary performance in this fine film. Splendid support by
Stephen Caffrey who manages to give his role as Bertinelli's harried
husband some shadings. Based on a true story, Bertinelli plays Laurie
Wade as both protagonist and antagonist.- and as her mother, Millie Perkins is sensational in showing her ambiguity and fear toward her own
child. But it's Bertinelli's show all the way, and it's too bad she's
never had a chance to shine in feature films. When one considers her
fine performances in such TV films as "Silent Witness", "Ordinary Heroes",
and "In A Child's Name", it's hard NOT to take her seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder of Innocence, April 13, 2007

I have not yet received this movie, however I have seen it on television. I believe this is one of Valerie Bertinelli's best work. Her acting was brilliant. It's an excellent film and would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys true movies.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strange movie, October 7, 2006

This review is from: Murder of Innocence (DVD)
Valerie Bertinelli plays a newlywed who snaps for reasons that remain unclear. While it's good that the movie doesn't explain everything&keeps you guessing, the ending is like MOST sappy "made for TV" movies. It ends with a closing explanation of what resulted in real life, kind of anti-climactic.

The movie is good because Valerie is convincing as a madwoman. Her descent is seen from her perspective. She writes numbers compulsively, she's into buying raw meat, she loses track of everyday tasks. It's also good in presenting different theories-
1)Did the woman lose her mind because she thought her husband was unfaithful with her sister? Was he fooling around with her sister?
2)Was it because of his insensitive behavior?(The husband is quite unsympathetic. He wants to throw her out as soon as she's not the picture-perfect bride he assumed she was.So much for "in sickness&in health.")
3)Was it her inability to have children?
4)Was she dealing with mental illness as a child, though her parents deny it?
In some ways, this is a well-done thriller, but in many others,it leaves much to be desired.
