This is a fun series but while I enjoy the character of Nora, I'm amazed at how stupid she can be when it comes to Mick.

I also wish the author would tone down Libby or write her out -- she's so annoying that it's painful to even read about her.

This latest installment of the Blackbird Mystery Series was so entertaining that I didn't want it to end. As always Nancy Martin writes with such wit and clever twists that keeps the pages turning quickly! The new supporting characters are just as quirky and likeable as the already established ones. This is such a great addition to an already fabulous series!

I selected this author for my mystery book club. I've read 4 of the Blackbird sisters mysteries starting with the first, How to Murder a Millionaire. Nora is somebody I'd like to meet. As the "responsible one," she's left holding the bag when her irresponsible parents abscond for parts unknown. Libby is the earthmother-nymphomaniac sister. Emma is drifting toward alcoholism. All three are saddled with the "marry a Blackbird and die" curse. Her descriptions of the ins and outs of Philadelphia's "old money" set are probably truer than we think. Apparently one can be "old money" in Charleston but considered otherwise in good old Phillie. These are light reads and would be perfect for vacation. And as for Michael Abruzzo, he can bring his tortellini over to my house anytime !!!

Once again Martin has written a thoroughly entertaining book in my opinion. I enjoy the humor, the lack of perversion and bad language. I look forward to more books by her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Martin does it again!, July 11, 2009
This review is from: Murder Melts in Your Mouth: A Blackbird Sisters Mystery (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you haven't discovered Nancy Martin's Blackbird sisters, you are in for a treat. This is the seventh installment and the adventures of Nora, Libby and Emma Blackbird are just as fresh and funny as they were in the first book How to Murder a Millionaire (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 1). Their parents absconded with the trust fund and the three Philadelphia society girls must each get a job in order to deal with the necessities of life. Of course within each book is a murder and a mystery which is generally coupled with Nora's long suffering love life with Mick Abruzzo!

The series is fun and laced with humor. A nice aspect to the books is that the characters grow and develop throughout their trials and tribulations. The relationships become deeper and mature.

Can't wait for number eight!

If you'd like to start the series from the beginning, here are the books in order:

#1 How to Murder a Millionaire (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 1)
#2 Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 2)
#3 Some Like it Lethal (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 3)
#4 Cross Your Heart and Hope to Die (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 4)
#5 Have Your Cake and Kill Him Too (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 5)
#6 A Crazy Little Thing Called Death (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries, No. 6)
#7 Murder Melts in Your Mouth: A Blackbird Sisters Mystery (Blackbird Sisters Mysteries)

This is a frothy, frolic in novel form with a little mobster action, larcenous parents, lots of fun and action and a cute snotty nosed baby. What more do you need? Just ask Nancy Martin, she can whip up a light froth of entertainment with all of the above, guranteed to give you good dreams about this basically loving family. Thank you again for entertaining me.

This was the best in the series. The Blackbird family should be a TV series. I hope they'll be a 8th installment.
