1.0 out of 5 stars Worst of the murder mystery games, August 27, 2003
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Murder Mystery Party - The Icicle Twist (Toy)
I own this game (in its previous incarnation, with the floppy record, not the CD) and I can honestly say it is the worst Murder Mystery game I have played out of dozens of plays by multiple companies. The plot is uncomplicated and unfun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Our Third Mystery, March 5, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Murder Mystery Party - The Icicle Twist (Toy)
The Icicle Twist was our third mystery. Our first was a completely scripted mystery, so this was a bit different. If you don't like structured, scripted play then this might be the mystery for you. Another review stated it was easy. Only one out of 10 guests was able to pinpoint the murderer, and he was only guessing. So, the difficulty might depend on your group.

Out of the 6 murder mysteries I've hosted, Icicle Twist has the best menu items. Everyone loved the Stuffed Mushrooms and are insisting that I make them again for future mysteries. The Drinks and the Chili were also very good.

As a game itself, this is not my favorite mystery, but part of it is what the players bring to it. If you have a fun and lively group that enjoy to improv and ad lib, then this game would be better suited to your group than other scripted mysteries.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing at best, March 12, 2007

Nick (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Murder Mystery Party - The Icicle Twist (Toy)
I had played other murder mystery games in the past, and I really enjoyed them. We were headed to vacation in a ski area, so I thought this would be great to fit with the theme. Sadly, we were all disappointed with this game.

1) This game is very short compared to other murder mystery games (1.5 hours as opposed to 3 or 4 hours for other games I have played).
2) The solution was not complicated. Don't be fooled by the "twist" in the title. This was about as complicated as something from Saturday morning cartoons.
3) The format was different from other murder mystery games, and there just wasn't much information to play with (hence the short gameplay).

If I could go back and buy something else, I would. With so many other good murder mystery games out there ("Lethal Luau" and "The Good, the Bad and the Guilty" to name a couple), why buy this one?
