I ordered this party kit for my daughter's 12th birthday party. When it arrived in it's tiny little box, I thought we were sunk! After thumbing through the little booklets I was very impressed. It didn't take much to get things rolling and everyone had a great time! This party kit worked great with 12 yr olds but it would be successful with any age group!

Played this on a Saturday night with my wife and 4 of our children- easy to follow- fit right in with dinner and didn't require much set up at all .
The anticipation created by the sequence of events laid-out for you in the game made it easy to enjoy; the game played within the game made it more fun say than Clue ( although my kids love to play Clue and Clue DVD version). Also,the role playing was interesting and if you give out the roles to the respective players several hours before the game starts , it should make it even more seamless as everyone will be a little more fluid/ at ease playing their part.

We were not expecting much from this $5 version of the more detailed versions, however we were all surprised at how into the characters we all got. We had a great time and were throwing accusations left and right! The only requirement is a group who will really get involved(dressing the parts really helped)!!!

This game was very fun! We all played parts at all different ages and it made sense. The charades was the best part because it was very difficult. I highly reccomend this game to families!

I LOVED this kit! This was the first murder mystery party that I've ever played and the booklets were easy to understand. The game was played by 7 adults (1 host, 6 characters) and everyone had a blast! Most of the time we were laughing until our eyes started to water, but it really was from player interactions. Just make sure you have a group that will delve right into their characters and you will enjoy it as well. :)

This game is for 7 people comprising of six guests and one host (who guides the guests along but otherwise doesn't participate in the activities.) The guests consist of 3 male and 3 female roles.

The 6 nametag stickers are not stickers, but more like index cards.

Each guest booklet contains:
-background about the character
-quick description of how the character feels about the others
-intro to be read aloud
-phrase to be guessed during the charades phase (and an additional clue for the guest who correctly guessed the phrase)
-two clues to reveal during the meal
-"last seen the murder victim" clue

There's also a quick talent show after the meal, the winner of which gets an additional clue.

Entertaining overall. The fun arises more from player interactions and less from the really short scripts.

First, I thought there were 8 books--there are only six. Second, 3 are for girls. This works well if you have equal number of girls and boys. We were boy-heavy and it didn't translate well to boys. Third, I should have read through all the books first (even though the directions say not to). It is not clear to 12 year olds when to turn the page and I could have helped. The books are tiny, which is actually kind of fun. Finally, the charades part of the game was impossible, even for the adults present. We had to adapt.

All in all, it turned out to be a great idea for a Halloween party. Next year, we will do something similar, hopefully for the same price (which was modest). The kids loved this idea! This particular product would probably be better suited for adults, although the kids were brilliant in figuring out "who done it!"

Kudos to the makers for shipping quickly. The product was exactly what they promised.

As a game, it was worth only the $6 I paid for it. After looking through the material, we decided to buy a "How to Host a Murder" brand game for $30 and had a good time.

Okay this is and game, not an book. It comes with 6 booklets telling each guest what to say and do. Also there is an host's guide, which shows you how to plan it. You might want to read each caricters booklet, so you know how your going to run the party. It is an very good game, PLAY IT!
