5.0 out of 5 stars Do you drink wine? If so, grab this game!
OK, I have to first admit that I *love* these kinds of party games. The whole idea of dressing up, hanging out with friends and trying to solve a mystery together while you eat delicious food is just about the most enjoyable way I can imagine to spend with 7 of my best friends. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Taste for Wine and Murder
Although this murder mystery game set made for a fun evening with friends, it was rather confusing. I recommend reading the first dialogue so that you can get a feel for it, and explain it better to your guests. Also, please let your guests know that if their character booklet says anything about a "clue #x" at any point, have them let the rest know. The "clue" booklets...

This game makes it so easy! You follow the instructions, hand out the notes to the players, and it's all set! A definite must-have for any fun-loving wine drinker! Perhaps the only drawback might be that some people just don't enjoy these sorts of play-acting games. So choose friends that really have fun with this.

We purchased this product to host our first murder mystery dinner party. None of the 8 of us had previously participated in one of these games. It was fabulous. Great information, great characters (all 8 of us dressed in costume), interesting plot. I even made wine labels for empty bottles to use as decor to coordinate with the theme of the evening. We can't wait to host another one in the near future. I highly recommend this game, but we didn't use the complicated menus; we chose to serve appetizers, salad, lasagne & cheesecake for dessert.

Also, please let your guests know that if their character booklet says anything about a "clue #x" at any point, have them let the rest know. The "clue" booklets are vital to determining the murderer[ess]. Overall, take time to decide what to say to your guests when explaining how the game runs, and make sure that you don't leave anything out of the explanation.

Being the first time ANY of us had ever done a murder mustery game, I was a little concerned...the blind leading the blind so to speak. Everything was laid out in black and white, so for us newbies it was outstanding! Already shopping for the next one!

This is a great Murder Mystery Kit. It gives you everything you need to plan and the ideas to present a wonderful dinner and fun night of fun. The menu is planned at 3 different levels, so that you can choose how extravagant or easy you want the evening to be. Their are only 8 characters so extra guests won't have a role, but can dress up in similar attire and still have a great time. I had 10 people and it worked out splendidly. There are recipes that turn out fantastic and I learned to make crackers from scratch. The format doesn't inform you of a lot at once, this way you don't give away too much info at the wrong time. Although you may not know exactly what you are doing till you turn the page, it makes it all the more fun and exciting. I am already planning another...A Murder on the Grill for a summer cookout experience!
Bon Apetit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wine and Murder, March 9, 2007

I purchased this game for my birthday and I had a great time. It was slow at first but not due to the game but the people who were a little self concious at first, by the second round , though everyone got really into it and we had a great time. Even people who couldn't take part (cause I had at least 15 people in my home and the game is for 8) enjoyed watching and laughed along. Just make sure you play this with the right people, that is key, if they don't get into it, it won't be as fun as it should.
The CD also helps sum everything up in every scene--so if you laughed too loud or missed something you are sure to catch it then. I am going to pass it along to a friend cause the only down side is once you play you can't play again--you know the murderer. Definite great and refreshing way to spend an evening if you want to change things up. Will be doing again and only inviting my energetic friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok but sorta lame, November 18, 2007

We thought this was a bit lame. No where near as good as the How to Host a Murder Series. The scenario is scripted and characters are directed to ask questions of other characters but the other characters have no clue as to what the answers are. Players are asked to describe things that they know nothing about like what is in their character's pocket etc... There is also a CD which thinks it is a cassette tape. All in all it was acceptable but there's no real figuring out the mystery at the end. It ends up being all guess work since there aren't enough real clues just a series of red herrings.

We had a great time with 7 guests and a four course meal. We served a different California wine with each course. We played a round in between each course and remained in character the whole evening. It was a blast!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for any occasion!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Murder Mystery Party - A Taste for Wine and Murder (Toy)
We played A Taste for Wine and Murder on New Years Eve. We all had a fantastic time. The game is well organized with 3 different menu suggestions with shopping lists and recipes. The clues were well laid out and the costume suggestions helped us all be even more creative. Everyone really got into their character, which is a must for a successful murder mystery party. The game took about 3 hours to complete which was perfect to pass the time on New Years Eve. Only two of us guessed who the murder was in the end. The game was even fun for the non-suspects (Bud Wizer and Bonny Lass) even though we didn't have any secrets to reveal. The only thing that could have been improved was the CD - it was a little cheezy and still referred to itself as a casset tape (that could be updated!). This is the 4th murder party we've done and I'd say overall it was a success. If you've never done a Murder Mystery Party - I would HIGHLY recommend trying one.

The recipes were so so, and ridiculously complicated, and the mystery itself wasn't quite as obvious as a kick in the head, but nearly. Besides which, it was scripted, you actually had to sit there and read parts, which I thought made the whole thing a little stilted. I've definitely done better ones -- keep shopping.
