More About the Author

I'm a writer. I like moving words around. I play the keyboard.

The son of a newspaper reporter and editorial writer, I began my daily newspaper career at The New York Times, where I was hired in 1968 to initiate their coverage of rock, making me the first full-time rock journalist for major media. I later switched to writing fiction and as of this year published 50 books, one of which won the prestigious Edgar Award.

Recently I resumed my old career as an observer and reporter on the cultural, social and political scenes, this time as a blogger. I also am working to create Kindle editions of my best published books. The first Kindle edition of the 10 books in my series of hardcover mysteries is "Michael Jahn's New York City Mysteries: Murder in Coney Island." It just went up.

This was actually the ninth book in the series. Like George Lucas with "Star Wars," I'm starting late in the series and working my way back. "Coney Island" is the first for which I had a decent digital file. Next will be "Michael Jahn's New York City Mysteries: Murder in Central Park." It was the eighth to go up as a hardcover. I'll get the Kindle edition up in a month or two.

What else? Oh, you can find me on Facebook (as Mike Jahn) and Twitter (as Mike_JahnWORDS).

I live in New York.

My uncle took me to one of the Russian nightclubs in Brighton Beach in Brooklyn a couple of years back and I can tell you that John's description of it in Murder at the Museum of Natural History is right on! This guys knows his stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book!, February 22, 2000

What a great book! It has a great plot and terrific characters. I especially like Sgt Moskowitz, Donovan's new partner, and the Russian guy who helps Donovan out. Michael Jahn writes about the Big Apple better than anyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars Murder at the Museum of Natural History, February 11, 2000

I was dissappointed. First two books "Night Rituals" and "Death Games" were excellent. Still have and reread them. They had a character named Jefferson, lots of humor, a good plot. This is is minus Jefferson, minus interesting characters, has little humor, and too many historical facts. This one goes in discard pile.
