The plot moves thick and fast, and Murdoch Hughes even has a few Dashiell Hammett-like moments with his hard-boiled prose. It is rare that an author can execute a book as well as Murdoch Hughes has managed with MURDER IN LA PAZ. I found the story to be engaging and consistent throughout, with well thought-out characters. MURDER IN LA PAZ is very enjoyable to read, and surprisingly, (our tastes in literature being very different) my wife and I agreed on how engrossing and entertaining the book is. Once you open the book, you won't keep it down. The author has a nice touch with detailed and sometimes subtle description of Baja...Can't wait for the next novel from the same author.
