Common Sense is Man's way of Justifying their Lack of Faith,
This review is from: Murder Through The Grapevine (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Are you operating solely on your common sense or are you stepping out on Faith? Murder Through The Grapevine is a story with many lessons: Is Gossiping harmless? What dictates your actions - "common sense" or Faith? and Church folks - are we all that and a bag of chips or are we simply evil doers with one saving Grace - Jesus?
The main character - Veronica "Roni" Jarrett is a baby christian, learning through many trials and tribulations the power of prayer and how God does what He wants to do and when He wants to do it! She finds herself in one bad situation after another upon moving back to her old hometown and running into an old friend who later is murdered. This story initially started off slow for me, but, refusing to put it down - later proved to be worthwhile. All I can say is LORD HAVE MERCY! There were parts where I was literally holding my breath, thinking Oh My Goodness, that's it there is no way she can get out of this situation. You know how it is when you are faced with what seems like too much to bear and you find yourself "reminding" God of His promises (SMILE)... BUT, what the author demonstrated beautifully is that "The Name of Jesus is a STRONG Tower and those that run to it are safe." This story has it all mystery, "crazy" churchfolks, drugs, guns, lying tongues, murder, scandal, jealousy and past regrets (and yes ladies - a good looking guy). Remember, remain steadfast and finish the book - you will be encouraged and want to scream JESUS and mean it!!!

Personally, I thought this book was awesome. It read smoothly from beginning to end. The plot was suspensful. The characters were intriguing, inviting, exciting and believable. However, the main character was starting to get on my nerves a little bit. Let's just say I couldn't put this book down. Most importantly, the book presented a powerful and wonderul message about faith, gossip, love, trust and the power of prayer. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. Great read! I miss Veronica Jarrett and super classy, sexy, strong, good-hearted Don Gillette.
